Hi Christina, I am home now, and my sister is resting.  She had 3 hernia's which were repaired with mesh and will be in for about 5 days.  Thank you for your prayers and now tomorrow we must have good thoughts and prayers for your sister. How are you doing ? Mary

Hi Christine and IL board, Well, I made it through a rather rainy 5K this morning....took the giant chihuahua mix, Pepper with me since he wanted to go!!  WE did great time.....under an hour, even with the icy sidewalks.  I met a bunch of the soon-to-be police officers that were working traffic control...had to introduce myself so that when they start their ride alongs with my units out there they will know who is on the other end of the radio. We found Santa Claus.....he was running in the race and kind enough to pose for pictures with me and Pepper.  My friend Ann and I got kicked out of the Merchandise Mart by security...."No dogs allowed!!!"..Whatever! Anyways, Pepper was the muddiest dog when we finished so he got a bath as soon as we got home...didn't want to chance it with the road salt he was covered in. So now I shall take a nap til the Bears game, and the boyfriend will be bringing dinner tonight!!  Hope everyone had/is having a good day! Hugs! Paula

Hi Pam, It was a great walk....but my shoulder is owieeeee right now...I see the chiro again in the morning but I have to work tonight so that will be a test of my endurance for pain, that's for sure. Yes, I am a social butterfly....weird to say, but I am pretty shy..just not around cops (???!!!!)...LOL. Actually, since I have been in this field for almost 20yrs, I find that I can talk shop with them.  I even ran up to one of them, high fived him and yelled "wooooo!!! cute boy!! take a pic with me!!!" and he did.  Ha ha ha!!  We totally gotta hang together, chickie! I have a long way to go in losing more weight, but I feel a lot more confident these days. I figure, I am who I am...what's not to love? LOL    anyways, I'm off to snuggle and watch the Bears game! Paula

Paula, great job on the 5K & Pepper also. No rest for this weary one I am on my way down to the basement in a few minutes to straighten out the storage bins that I store down there so they are not in the way next week. Chris

Hi Chris, Thanks!!  Yes, Pepper rocks!!!!  I will have to post some pics on my profile soon.....I keep taking pics at these walk/race events and then forget to upload them! DUH! You are so ambitious to take on cleaning/organizing chores......I don't have the energy for that today. I'm just gonna head back in to snuggle and watch the Bears game. *Next Sunday is an 8K walk along the lakefront path.......I'm considering it....but definitely no dog on this one. have a great day! Paula

Paula, well the energy usually comes from somewhere at this time of year. Next week my DH and I are having a Christmas Holiday Open House on Saturday. We usually have one every couple of years for my family, co-workers and respective friends. In the past we have had up to 180 here, needless to say that those that want to sit get here early because from there it is a stand up party for the rest. We have scaled back on the amount of people that we invited this year and also the amount of food that we have available, we used to have EVERYTHING you could wish for. We now do not want the food in the house so the food table is scaled back also. Dave used to bake for weeks and this year he only baked for a few days. Chris

Hello everyone!  Well I couldn't sleep last night because of this sinus headache I have had now since Friday afternoon and nothing I take seems to help it much.  So I didn't get to sleep til just after 2am, hubby let me sleep until 11am this morning....and Phantom cuddled with me for the last hour or so too.  That was nice, he's such a little, well okay, big, cuddlebug.  Today is our other dog, Harley's, birthday so I went to Petsmart and got some knuckle bones for the pups.  I also went to Wal-Mart for dog food and some Christmas shopping...what a nuthouse that place was.  Now I am sitting here checking mail and playing games, while hubby sets up the tree, I am not allowed to help!  He's super anal about the Christmas tree.  He has to have it just right with the lights before the kids and I are allowed to do the ornaments.  Tonight when all the boys get home, I want to try and get a picture of them and the 3 dogs, we'll see how well that goes. Mary, your sister is in my thoughts and prayers, please keep us updated. Christina, hoping you are feeling better with your foot and your sister is also in my throughts and prayers as well. Lucy, I am sorry you had to cancel the party yesterday, but glad that you did, it was nasty out there.  Just think, at the next party you will be able to dance and boogie around though!!  Looking super hot!   Love to all

Monica

Monica, I am just as anal about my Christmas tree as your DH is. Dave is only allowed to help take the lights off and store them away. I have always been that way. I took pictures of it and will get them posted on my profile later on tonight. I will be joining the madness at Target the week after next for my 4 niece and nephews gifts. They are the only ones I buy for. There are too many in my family. (I have close to 75 nieces, nephews, great and great, great ones) I have so much fun finding just the "right" gift for them. They range in age from 9-6, two boys and two girls. I have more fun with the girl's toys than the boy's. Dave enjoys deciding on the boy's toys. Chris

Hi Chris, I just got home.  Had a brunch with a bunch of my Human Resource buddies but many were scared off by the weather, even though it's much better outside today.  There were only 4 of us and the group is usually about 12. But it was nice and quite and at Wildfire which is one of my favorite resturants. Also it's a place that doesn't mind serving me half the meal and packing half to go.  So it works well for a post-op. Now it's time to catch up on my emails and the boards. I have another job interview tomorrow so I need to print off a couple of resumes and figure out what to wear.  At least there is no call for snow tomorrow so I won't have to deal with that. Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday.
Regards and hugs,

Ronna
