I am about 5 weeks out and I am still "pukey".  I am very sensitive to smells.  It is almost like being pregnant.  Has anyone else had these symptoms?  I am so frustrated....I have lost a nice amount of weight but I am frustrated because I haven't gotten the eating thing figured out yet.  I eat beans and yogurt and milk.  Oh well... I hope there is someone out there that can help. Thanks :)  Gina Everyone stay safe tonight!!

Gina, well I have never had a baby so I do not know the feeling but what I would recommend is that when the weather is condusive to travel go to the pharmacy and get an EPT. You are not the first one to get preggo this soon out. Many ladies have gotten preggo and have gone on to have healthy babies.  If and when you find out that you are in fact with child get in contact with your WLS and ask the office how you should proceed with your PO eatting and of course get in contact with your OB doc. Now, I have read of many, many PO people that do have nausea at the point you are PO and most people recommend that you contact your doc for advise. There might be a med that you can be taking for a short while to get you through this nasty time. I never had the pukey/nausea PO but in the hospital after all the meds and surgery but it went away real fast. Let us know what is going on with you. Chris

I was also very sensitive to smells and felt nauseous much of the time for about 3-4 months.  I used to get most of my protein in using the zero carb Isopure.  I would mix it with crystal lite lemonade.  One bottle is 40 grams of protein so it was a great way to go at the beginning. I used it for about 6 months. Also ate alot of low fat cottage cheese and other cheeses.  Was never much of a meat eatter, still don't like to handle it. Hang in there, it will get better.

Gina & Sandy, I just had a thought - try and keep at least SOMETHING in your tummy at all times. I am wondering if it is because your pouch is empty that you are getting nausea and are sensitive to smells. Your body might need some nutrition in its blood stream, you know to keep your blood sugar levels up? Chris

I too remember the sensitive smells.  Never actually got sick but thought for sure I would.  Nothing smelled or tasted good.

Hang in there. Christina

HI Gina and Sandy, Christine is right you might need to keep something in your pouch, I know when I get up in the morning my pouch is not in a good mood until I have put something in it,  When I get up I drink 4 0z of protien and then a cup of hot tea,  before I can even think about eatting anything, that has been working for me. Hope you both feel better soon,

Success begins with wise choices I make,I will not let noncompliance be my mistake, The surgery I had was to assist me in changes. My compliance is for a success long range, So I will think before I decide to cheat. Remember the goals I want to meet. For this surgery is not something I was force to do It was what I wanted for a healthy life!

Thanks for everyones posts!  I am glad to know that I am not alone.  I just have to keep trucking away.  Thankfully I know that I am not pregnant :)  ....my husband and I haven't ventured that way yet since the surgery.  Thanks again everyone :)  -Gina

Gina, I just went through my old "how to" stuff that I was given before surgery. They talked specifically about the nausea in the first few months and recommended drinking warm things, tea, decaf etc. Maybe that will help?
