I am 26 years old and have degenerative back disease and patella fibrosis in my knees. I run between 325 AND 350 pounds.  This extra weight makes it hard to do anything physical and I am trying to get lap band surgery. I have medicaid right now and I am trying to get disability because of my issues Can anyone give me advice on where to go? or what doctors to see that will accept medicaid? Please help

Thanks,

Mandy

Mandy,

I am very curious to know how you are doing now, and what steps you were able to take. I am 30 and have degenerative disc and joint disease, currently have 7 ruptured discs in my cervical and lumbar spine and have had two surgeries. I am in the appeal process for disability and have a very wonderful lawyer. I am up to 220 pounds, the heaviest I have ever been. I was able to maintain weight when I was able to be more active but over the last year I am barely able to walk and continue gaining weight which is only adding to the pain.

I would greatly appreciate any help or advise you could offer. It is rare I meet anyone my age with similar health issues and concerns.

I will be calling for the Peoria, IL group to see if they'll take me. I tried to get breast reduction but the gal I spoke with said they do not do the pre certification. Sounds silly since they take care of it in Peoria & they're actually through the same company. I'm wanting to get mine in late spring early summer. It's too dangerous to drive an hour & a half in winter. I wish they would get some doctors here in Sterling or @ least in Dixon @ KSB.
