Did you have to have 6 months of supervised weight loss by your Primary Care Physician before getting approved by Illinois medical card?

Does anyone know  if you have to have 6 months of supervised weight loss by your Primary Care Physician before getting approved by Illinois medical card? I currently have IDPA and I'm afraid to loose to much weight on my 6 months of medically supervised weight loss program because I currently have a BMI of 41 and don't want to get under 40. I'm afraid the medical card will not approve me if I get under 40 BMI. Does anyone have any info regarding this.

I found out today that the office of Dr Laurence Gibson and Dr Aaron Siegel take the Illinois medical card for both gastric bypass and lap-band surgeries. The phone number is 847-856-2525.

Hi I wanted to ask if anybody else has ran into this problme. I am 4 ft 9 and weigh 200 lbs but yet my doctor tells me he will not approve me for sugery. He says that exercise and dieting will help me...I have tried many times and have failed. I have medicaid and was wondering if I would be able to go around not having a referral from him? I have two small children that i want to be around to raise them. I well quailfy for the surgery as you can see...and I have help problems along with it. Please Help. Hi, Ronda, welcome to the IL board. Are you sure that you are in the correct place to have your ? answered?

 I started my weight loss journey in feb of 2012.  Dr Aaron Siegel is my surgeon and  take the Illinois medical card for both gastric bypass and lap-band surgeries. The phone number is 847-856-2525.
I did all the needs for the approval process.  My last appt with dorctor seigal was on a thrusday. He said stay by the phone and today wednesday 3-13-2012 I approved by medicaid.  My surgery date is April 4th. I am so happy the process was so easy. dr seigals office made it very simple. Hi My Fellow Illinoisians!

I am new to obesityhelp.com and I am already loving this resources available through the site! I live in Central Illinois and I am looking for a surgeon who does the lap band and accepts IPA Medical card. I see there were/are a lot of referrals from others from previous years and I wanted to know if anyone knew any current information?
