New to Chicago
Welcome to Chicago! Sorry for the cold weather. I'm sure you've heard it already but this is nuthin'! In January, you may want to hibernate and leave your home for the first time in June!
I am pre-op and a DS, so I don't know about a RNY support group in the area. And, my gym is $80 a month, but I love it! I go to Lifetime Fitness in Skokie. They have child care for $10 a month and so many amenities it blows my mind.
So, I have no info, just a "welcome" greeting for you. Best of luck acclimating. If you need some Chicago advice, let me know. I'll be happy to try and help!

Hi Angle and welcome to Chicago. I'm a born and raised Chicago Girl and I hate the cold too. I guess you just never get used to it. But you will love the other 3 seasons.
I had my RNY just a month after you. My surgical group does have a support group but we are out in the NW burbs.
I don't know where you are in Chicago but I would start with some of the hospitals in your area and see if they have a Bariatric program. They should be able to refer you.
Again welcome and I hope to see you around the boards.
Regards and hugs,
Ronna

Hi Angel - Just wanted to give you a "warm" welcome. Yes, the winter months really stink in my opinion but it is what it is. I'm already freezing and we've only just begun. Not sure where you located in Chicago but you may want to try Cardinal Fitness or Ideal Fitness.. They usually run a 19.95 mo special w/ no contract. Also Planet Fitness is even cheaper but I really don't know if any of these are actually in the heart of Chicago. You can google and find out. Stop in often, we have a daily roll call and a very active board. Christina
