Anyone else have this problem???
Well I am having a problem getting protien drinks down...they just smell so awefull and make me icky feeling. I was eating well after having some tummy problems and then Wed. I started throwing up....water. I couldn't handle it. I went to surgeons office yesterday. They gave me anti-vomiting med. I took one last night and threw up again...and then feel asleep. Now this AM I have been drinking every five minutes and keeping it down fine. I am just really frustrated...has anyone else had this problem?
Gina

Dear Gina:
I have never had a problem with protein drinks....I actually LIKE mine!
But.........If you are having a problem with the smell, try a cover for the cup, like using a to-go coffee cup. I do not know what your doctor recommends, but mine says "no straws", so a regular to-go cup would not work.
At first, I mixed a lot of stuff into my protein and usually did smoothies. In vanilla, I put a couple of small pieces of fruit, and even a small amount of peanut butter.
Chocolate can be mixed with diet hot cocoa if it is not chocolatey enough, peanut butter, sugar free syrups, and my favorite.....Caffeine free, sugar free international flavored coffee---Suise Mocha is a staple in my house!
Please try not to get too frustrated.....every day will be a bit better than the last.
I started with the Body X Fortess from Wal-mart and that is still good, especially if you are adding stuff. I always used a blender or Magic Bullet with this.
Right now, my favorites are IDS Multi Pro Isolate in Belgian Chocolate and Cappuccino. I like these because I can get a 5 lb. tub for about the same price per pound as the Wal-mart stuff and it is WAY yummier. When we were on vacation, I just mixed with water and ice with a spoon and drank it down with my vitamins. IDS Multi-Pro Isolate also has a Vanilla-Cinnamon flavor that is great mixed into oatmeal and mixed warm with International coffee's Chai Latte. I get the IDS from vitalady.com
I also LOVE the Matrix Perfect Chocolate and Cookies and Cream. Again, I can get these in 5 lb. bags for roughly $7.00 a pound. Vitalady does not carry Matrix, so I get that from Bariatriceating.com.
I also love the Nectar brand Cappuccino, which I can get at either place.
Oh Gina, I am sorry to hear this, I too love my protien drinks the choc. and I am mixing it one scoup to 4 oz of milk and use the bullet, I am buying mine at Woodmands and love it , It is alot better the the one we got that the dr. office,
good luck, to you hope you can get over this soon,
Success begins with wise choices I make,I will not let noncompliance be my mistake, The surgery I had was to assist me in changes. My compliance is for a success long range, So I will think before I decide to cheat. Remember the goals I want to meet. For this surgery is not something I was force to do It was what I wanted for a healthy life!
It took a long time before I could use any protein powder. For the first few months I used the Zero Carb Isopure in the pre-mixed bottles. They come in several different flavors but I liked the Alpine Punch the best.
I would mix it with Crystal Lite lemonade 1/2 and 1/2 and that way it was pretty easy to drink. No aftertaste at all.
In a 20oz bottle you would get 40 grams of protein. So I would just sip my protein all day long.
You can get them at GNC adn if you don't like them they will let you return any unopened bottles.
Give it a try.
Regards and hugs,
Ronna
