OT: We were vandalized

While we were gone this morning at work, someone came by and stole 4 planks of wood off of our fence and ruined our neighbors nice aluminum fence too.  We unfortunately found it when Mike let the dogs out and Harley ended up on the other side of the fence!  Of course we called the police and filed a report and were told that at least 30 mailboxes were destroyed in our neighborhood too last night.  This with the fence was sometime this morning though since it was fine when we left for work.  I don't like not feeling safe in my own backyard yanno?  Just wanted to vent.

I'm sorry Monica.. I bet you feel violated.  It does give you an ill feeling knowing someone has been that close to your property etc.  At least you know they were not targeting you, that it was a rash of houses they hit. My offer stands if you need to "run away".  We can meet for coffee, tea whatever. Christina

Thank you Christina.  I will most likely take you up on that offer too!  It would be nice to "get away" for a bit.  You are right about them not targeting us and the police are pretty sure they know who it is, but without the "proof" they can't do anything.  This group of teenagers lives in our sub division and I know who it is.  They also know we have dogs, so I really think they wanted to make it "risky" yanno? Oh well, at least no one was hurt

Hmmm - mailboxes and pieces of fence?  sounds like teenagers to me.

oh Wendi, yes it was a group of teenagers most likely.  the police are pretty sure they know who it was, but have no "proof"

Monica, at least it was wood off your fence, more a nuisance then anything else, at least they did't get in your house or garage.   My parents were visiting from southern Illinois, when they went home the front door was open, so was the back, and a pile of stuff was in the living room. They lost a little money, my mothers wedding band, and other diamond jewelry, and the B^^^^^ took all of my dads service metals and some stuff he had of his fathers. My mother refused to leave the house or anything after that, until she died a year later.  We have had kids in our back yard when we have come home at night. One night we heard someone say, "ah S@@@! they're home. It violates your safe feeling, and how you feel about everytyhing. Sorry it happened. Lisa

Thank you Lisa.  That is exactly how I feel, violated.  Like how dare someone come into my yard and destroy anything that we worked hard for.  I feel horrible for your parents.  I am so sorry that happened to them.  When we moved here, we really thought we were somewhere that we would feel safe...not anymore.  When we are talking arson that close to our house....it's scary

Monica, I am so sorry-you must feel very frightened.  I hope the police are able to round up those hooligans somehow so they stop terrorizing your neighborhood.  Glad your pups didn't stray- stay safe-Hugs-Janet K
