Question regarding Consult
Hi everyone!
I have been so busy, I haven't had a chance to post much. But, tomorrow is the day for my consult with the surgeon. I have all my questions written out, and my psyc this morning wrote me an evaluation without even asking for her to do it.
.
Now, how long should I expect the appointment to go, other than the general information regarding the surgery is discussed? What will be the next step after consult?
I also had a dream last night that the surgeon told me I was not a good candidate. Did anyone else feel this way? or am I loosing my mind
.
I am such a jumble of nerves right now and so excited I can hardly believe it.

I'm not familiar with the process the Kane Center puts you thru but my very first consultation was 4 hrs long. Yes, it was a long thorough appointment. I met w/ the surgeon, the nurse, the dietician and the phyisologist.
Your nervous, that is why you are having dought. Everything will be just fine. As far as the next steps?? Your surgeon will provide you with the next steps. Mine had me working on goals.. eating small meals, sipping.. not drinking when eating, working out. Getting clearance from my reg dr, complete physical and mamograhm, clearance from cardiologist, physc etc.. He'll give you instructions.
Good Luck tomorrrow.

Hi Wendy,
My first consult with Dr. Guske (part of the Kane Group) lasted a little over an hour. He took his time and answered all my questions and concerns.
The next step for me, was to try and get approval from BCBS of IL (which I didn't and did without). Once my medicare coverage kicked in it was full steam ahead:
Psych evaluation
Support Group Meeting
Stress Test
Meeting with Pulmonologist (then 2 sleep studies)
Met with Dietician
After all that was done, surgery was scheduled.
Best of luck!
Regards and hugs,
Ronna

Hi Wendy
,
I am also with the Kane Center, and I think the first consult went for about an hour. Then I schuluded some other things. I did both parts of the phych eval on one day, then the dietian, and the lung doctor, then Cardio, where I encountered a 4 month set back
They try to get you moving as fast as possible. Now I am back on track. Good luck tomorrow.

It will be about an hour like the others have said to you. Do not be nervous about your appointment. That man is really down to earth. I just saw him last night at the pre surg seminar and he gave me a big smooch in front of everyone there.
Your dreams and nerves are normal. I had the same as you years ago and look where I am now?
