So I found a doc in Decatur that I have an appointment with.  I was all gung-ho to go, then he sent me the paper work to fill out.  On one of the pages it says "psych eval req before request for approval is sent to medicaid." which is fine, its 100 but i figure well spent because I know if aynthing I over qualify for the surgery....Then I keep reading, and this is where I stop... "Some insurances require 12 montj phy supervised diet"...I don't have that, I've never done a supervised diet other than like weigh****chers, la weightloss etc. because I cannot afford it.  No insurance companies will cover it and I have 2 kids to support, I can not under any cir****tances afford to pay a doctor to weigh me every week and tell me things I already know.  I also don't want to waste my hard earned 100 bucks on a psych eval again that is just going to be denied because of the diet supervision.....I did this once with another insurance last year, paid 125 dollars to a psych and passed, all information was great, but got denied for 6 months sup diet.  Anyone have meidcaid that got the surgery?  Any information would be great...were you required to do the diet supervision thing?  Please help, I dont want to drive 2 hours on monday to find this out.  I called doc office and they were NO help, said they have no idea...which i don't beleive but either way, no help. thanks

Have you called Madison County public aid to find out if the psych eval is covered? When did you go to weigh****chers and LA weight loss? It might be able to be used for your 6 month diet. There are also other things that you must do before your doctor will submit your stuff to medicaid.Good luck. Lisa

I have medicaid but paid out of pocket due to all the bull**** waits. I never rember being told I had to have a supervised diet. If you need it and have medicaid it is a 2.00 copay and you only go once a month. so it would be 12.00 total. also you may be able to use your last pshy evaluation. I would call the dr offices and ask and save your 100.00

I doubt they would let me, It's been a good 12 months since then, at least, possibly longer.  I didn't think medicaid covered phy sup diet.  Then Im faced with the challenge of finding a phy that will do it that accepts medicaid. :(  I just hope they don't need it.  On the paper it actually says "medicaid does not cover psych eval" and then they put a note that it is usually 100 bucks an hour, but the lowest I could find last time in the area was 125.  Like I said, I can come up with the hundred and some bucks if it means that this is actually going to happen, but i don't want to pay it AGAIN and find out that its denied for a bogus reason.  I just want to be healthy and there are so many obstacles standing in the way of me and my goal :(  Its so discouraging.  I wish I could be a self pay, but I've tried to get financing and thats not happening, so I have to try to get insurance to pay for it.

as far as the supervised diet goes every doctor is different...and as long as your last psych eval was less than a year ago the doc should be able to use that one but even if they won't then medicaid does cover the cost of the psych eval...I hope this helps even a little bit and the best of luck to you~

I have medicaid and didnt have to do that. There ARE some that will do your phych eval with the medical card call around. If you dont have to spend the money you shouldnt. I went to one is Marion ,IL and theres one in Carbondale also that takes medicaid.

I took in a track book where I did weigh****chers before a long time before and gave them my pcp phone number to call because I was a long time ago on some weight loss meds. I was instantly aproved. So I dont think they are picky on that at all. I honestly wouldnt worry. The doctor told me to write some things on paper and he can turn that in. He wasnt concerned and I didnt have an issue.

I can help you with it if youd like me too send me a pm if so.

Good luck,
