What the heck is wrong with me?  I just feel like I am failing this 6 month diet thing.  I have been to 2 appts already and have gained 3 pounds!  I am supposed to lose between 15 and 25!!   I know that I have to exercise and just don't do it.  I will often think of how good it will feel to exersice after surgery, but why the heck can't I get off my butt and do it now?!! Any ideas on motivation for me?  Like I said, I don't know what is wrong with me!

Nothings wrong with you.  The first thing is you have to stop beating yourself up. Excersise doesn't mean you have to go to the gym and work out or kill yourself like they do on the Biggest Loser. How about just walk everyday.  And try to go a bit farther each time.  That my dear, is excersise. Heck before my WLS I could barely walk and couldn't get out of a chair without someone's help.  So excersise while waiting for WLS didn't happen for me. One day at a time, girlfriend. You'll make it.
Regards and hugs,

Ronna

Thanks Ronna, I will try to get out and walk some every day even if it's just around the block.  Eventually I want to be able to walk the path that goes around our entire subdivision...or better yet  ride a bike around it!   thank again for the support

Let this be a motivation , but not scare you......I gained 3 pounds on my supervised diet and they just denied me!!!!  You can totally do this!!!  I may have do the supervised diet over!!!  And I know you would not want to do that, would you?  You can do anything you put your mind to and I have faith in you!!!

Thank you Kim, you have no idea how much it means to me for you to say you have faith in me without even knowing me.  You are very right, I don't want to have to do this 6 month diet again!  I'm sorry that you got denied because of it.  When will you know what you have to do to get approved?

Monica, There is nothing wrong with you, but use this surgery to get yourself motivated!!! You may have to get mad, then you can prove to them you can do it.  Do you have a dog or someone to walk with you?  Join sparkpeople  or fitday.com and keep your caloric intake under a certain number and try to move more.  You can do this. On my pre op diet I had to find food that I liked and looked forward to eating.  If I ate something that I didn't like, I found that I was looking to eat something else to eat.

Look for low cal choices that you like and make sure the calories you are spending are worth it, then stick with that for a while.  I did a protein bar for breakfast.  I like Cliff bars and Snickers Marathan bars, each around 220-250 calories for breakfast with a huge cup of coffee, then lunch was a seafood salad from our local resturant. 200 calories, then for supper I'd have a piece of lean meat on the grill and a salad or vegie.  Then snack on fruit or melon.  to add up to 1200-1400 calories a day.

That was my preop diet and I could not believe how fast it went,  30 lbs lost and I'm already on my 3rd wk postop.   Use the board for support and take this opportunity to get healthy!!!.  Good Luck and God Bless you, Happy Losing!!!

thank you Babbs, your words mean a lot to me.  And ya know what, I don't have A dog, I have 3 dogs who would fight over who goes with me!  LOL  I could only take one or maybe two, but that would help.  I will also grab my son who is over weight as well and we can walk together.  Yep, that's what I am going to do!  See I think I just needed the extra motivation from my new friends!  I am going to work on really watching what I snack on after work, that seems to be my biggest problem.   Thanks again

How about a swift kick in the butt with my size 9 1/2 steel toe shoe!  You're in a little funk, time to come out from under that rug, shape up and get movin.  You have to do this for yourself.  The end result will be your surgery day.  It's an amazing journey my friend.  Just move the bod and take things one day at a time.  You can do this! Okay while I am sure my butt is big enough to accomadate your 9 1/2 shoe, I don't want to find out!!  yes I am in a funk, but with all of the encouraging words here I will climb my way out and get moving.  Today at Tyler's game I must have walked the field sidelines at least 10 times...does that count?  lol   Thanks about the new avatar too....that's my son Jacob with me.  It's one of those hold the camera out in front of us and smile!  lol  We have a lot of fun together.

Yes, Walking the field sidlines works..  It's all about "moving".  Right now it does not matter what form of "movement" you are doing, just something.  You will get thru this, just keep focused on the prize at the end. Christina
