Anyone doing a pre-surgery full liquid fast? I am in day 4 of it, and still have 10 more to go.

Yep, been there, done that.  Look at the end result to get you thru it.  I really did not find it difficult after the first couple of days.  You should also lose quite a bit of weight in the process.  The liquid diet shrinks your liver and other organs so your surgeon can do his job. Good Luck and Congrats on your upcoming big day! Christina

thank you so much for getting back to me, yeah i just keep keeping my eyes on the prize so to get through the fast, and i have remained pretty positive and havent even cried..hahaha, so you are a year out of the surgery huh? that is fun, i am just scared and nervous and excited and i dont know what to feel these days. for some reason a big concern of mine is how long after the surgery til you can shower.?

The emotions you are feeling are very normal.  Happy, sad, scared, anxious... Don't worry about showering.  Check w/ your surgeon first but I had "open" gastric bypass and showered in the hospital.  They just covered the incision area real good and I pretty much stood away from the shower so the water pretty much hit my back area.  Nothing feels better then being clean. I was looking at your pictures and you look absolutely fabulous, way to go!! I am going to try to get some pictures posted this weekend so i can see how horrible i looked a year from now, I am a little bigger than you were to start, hoping to have the immense success that you have had, i just want to get the surgery overwith and begin my life.

I think the pre surgical diet was the hardest part of the whole thing.  According to my coworkers (after I returned to work after surgery) I had been a bear to work with while I was on that diet.  I apologized and was told not to think twice about as they had know it was a temporary situation.  So my heart goes out to you during this time. I have been ok at work, thanks by the way for commenting. Its not easy to not eat for sure when your use to eating mcdonalds 3 times a day..lol, but i am managing. I have always been good at losing weight and having willpower just never good at keepin the weight off, so hopefully this is the answer i have been looking for.  good luck to you and i hope all is going good.

Hi Tracy, I'm on day 6 of my 10 day liquid diet & I'm doing VERY well. At times I get headaches but I'm staying strong. If I cheated I would only be cheating myself! I've been shopping & even cooked a couple meals for the family. I hope you are doing just as well! Good luck with your up coming surgery!!!!

I mean i think i work better under pressure anyhow. So when is your surgery scheduled for? Mine is Sept 24th. Good luck if i dont hear from you, i will be praying for all of us thats for sure.
