Hello All I have been going to my grandsons 4th grade football games.  I have also been to see Dr Kane Jr and he said I am a "model"  patient.  My stats are as follows according to him.  I am 4'11" and I started out at 200 lbs...........Now I am 4'11" (didnt get any taller) and I weigh 147.  His goal for me is 115 and he said the next 30 will be the hardest...........we will see!! I just want to scream and cry!!!!!!!!!!  I got the letter today from BCBS and I was denied!!  I'm so upset I don't even want to type about it!

What was the reason they gave you?

Dear Kim: Scream, cry, and get that all out. Now.......deep breath.........that's it........... Once you have calmed down a bit, read the letter very carefully.   WHY are they denying?  (They deny almost everyone on the first try, I've heard.....) Once you see WHY they are denying, you can attack that.  Many times, it is just over something that they already have and you (or your doctor) will just have to point it out to them.  If they say the "need more information", call them up and ask them EXACTLY what they need.

I understand how you feel, believe me...I've been there, done that.  They just want you to play the game by THEIR rules.  DO NOT give up....this is NOT the end. I'm thinking good thoughts for you, and if there is anything I can do, let me know.

To be honest w/ you..I really don't understand what they want.  I wish they would write the letter so you could understand it!  I could try to scan it so you can see it if you want.  I am just sick to my stomach!!!

Kim, don't give up.  I was hoping that maybe we would be doing this at the same time, it would be nice knowing someone else was in the hospital at the same time getting the lap band. And it could still happen.  This is really a bad, good, bad day for you. But, it will change. Find out the real reason you were denied and work on that. Lisa
