So, If this HR guy proposed to add Morbid Obesity Coverage, and it DOES work, will "pre existing conditions" come into play here ?

For when my work changed insurance carriers you generally did not have issues with pre existing conditions. Now, sometimes cancer situations came into play or other major medical issues. Generally for larger group policies you are covered. I was morbidly obese through 3 different plans with my work. I do not know if WLS was a covered benefit on the other two but the third one (BCBS IL PPO) covered both my husband and I for WLS. Christine

NO!  it will not come into play, unless you didn't have insurance before signing up, or if you didn't have coverage and were treated for a specific diagnosis.  If you have continuous coverage pre-existing will not apply.
