Well today I am going to go help my mom. With my step dad being so sick she can not get out and just going shopping. So I told her today I would give her a break. I'll dadsit while she just enjoys her day at walmart. I know its not much but it will give her a break.  Yesterday I had a great day! Spent the day with my daughter and her family. We went up to Chicago did a lot of walking. Went to a place called Ben Pao, I think, for dinner. My son-in-law doesn't know I had WLS so I put the food in my plate in a way to make it look like I pigged out when I really only had about 1/2 cup. We parked at bloomingdales deck and just walked around, it was really busy up that way. I am  a country gril and the hussel and bussel of the big city is a little overwhellming. I loved it though. I think my favorite place to go to is Chicago. I have been to many places but I love it up there. Monday I am going to a BBQ and fishing with al the kids so I have a full plate...no pun intended...this weekend. Hope everyone has a fun and relaxing Labor Day weekend. Please watch the other guy and stay safe. Karen

Karen, where did you eat? Was it Italian? I was wondering if you went to Buca Di Peppo. They serve gynormous portions. Dave and I shared and barely touched what we had. I love that Mag Mile area. Great walking, people watching and window shopping area. Christine

no I spelled it wrong before. I think its called Ben Pao, Chinese food and its  served family style. So everyone gets to taste all thats ordered.  It was really good food and there was alot of food. I think it was near or on Michigan Ave. The fire dept was right across the street..... My daughter took alot of food home too. Ya I love ppl watching , but my kids don't walk they practically run and with the crowd last night I had to keep up. If i would have watched ppl I would have lost them. I plan on takin gthe train up in Oct or early Nov...Hope my coat fits by then. I bought it 2 years ago and I did not like how it fit. Maybe this year it will be looser. WOOHOO! hello everyone we are back home safe and sound. We had a great time walking all over Cedarburg, WI. We first drove up close to the state line then when over to near the lake front and drove up the road that borders Lake MI. and drove through Kenosha, Racine (had some breakfast, just enough) then into the 'burbs of Milwaukee. Drove throught the downtown area of Milwaukee, some of its really cute neighborhoods and then out the northern end of the city up to Cedarburg. It is a great little walking town and well preserved. It also has some neat shops. We drove and walked many of the side streets and learned of its history.  Had a great room at the Washington House Inn that is a B & B, pricey but wonderfully relaxing. They have a lot of great eating places that you can sit and eat or just enjoy a beverage, coffee, alcohol or other. Most of the eating places have more like bar fare but we knew of a place that had great home style cooking called The Farmstead. It was a one mile walk and well worth it. The sign on their inside door says "Enter as a stranger and leave as a friend". How true it was. They make it their business to learn your name and of course Dave is a "touchy-feely" guy and he hugged all the female help before he left! UMMM, we ate there twice on Saturday. We shared an "appeteaser" for lunch and had a great dinner which we brought most of it back and put in the cooler in the car.  On the way back we stopped at Mars Cheese Castle and got some cheese curds, string cheese and they had pumpkin wine. Ended up being a really sweet wine, it will be great to serve to guests with dessert.  Need to get going to a party. We have such a long commute (HAHA ) two doors down from us. Chris

I got a  call from Maggie last Thurs at the doctors office and she said she had everything she needed, so she submitted the paperwork to the insurance and she said she would call me in about 2 weeks.  She said that the only thing that might hold me back, is that I gained 3 lbs on my 6 month diet.  It was VERY up and down!  But she said everything else looks good.  Has anyone gained weight during the 6 month diet and gotten approved????  I am so scared and disappointed at myself!  Well...it's out of my hands and we will find out soon.

Kim, I talked to Maggie on Friday. I wonder if we will be having our wls  about the same time. She thought she would be submitting mine in the next few days. What insurance Co do you have? I habe Anthem BCBS, they do not require the six month diet and they told me that once it is submitted, I could  possibly hear from them within 3 days. Its getting close what ever. Looking forward to meeting eveyone on the 23rd.  Lisa

Hi Lisa, I have BCBS IL.  Maggie said that I should hear something in about 2 weeks.  I was just looking on the insurance page and looking at other peoples remarks about insurances.  So what do you think about  what Maggie said to me?  She does this kind of thing every day and do you think that she pretty much knows that I'm going to get denied because I gained 3 lbs on my supervised diet?  I have a sick felling about this whole thing!  If I am approved, we can be having surgery around the same time!!! Kim- I also have BCBS of Il.  My weight yo-yo'd back and forth during my diet period-1st they said 12 months, then just as I was approaching 11, they changed it 6months ,but I had to have all these monthly forms filled out which I had not been doing so we scrambled and got that done.  They denied me saying I had no co-morbidities.  Well, I have more than most people and my insurance girl was furious and called them and they said they never rcvd my medical records, which was a crock.  So they messengered them so they were signed for and they denied me again saying I should exercise.  The ins. girl called them and asked them if they bothered to read the records they just got , because if they had they would have seen the letter from my cardio that my heart function is impaired to point that I can not exercise hard enough to burn calories.  Then I had to get the psych eval and again it was no so we appealed a 3rd time.  While I was waiting for that, I wrote channels 2,5,7 and Oprah and told them about the 16 month run-around I was getting.  I got approved 11 days later.  There is no rhyme or reason to their approval methods-it is just who gets your case and if they think you warrant it.  I've seen people get approved on the 1st try w/NO co-morbids.  You just have to be persistent and the staff at the Kane is 110% supportive and will bend over backwards to get you approved.  Just hold a good thought and I will say a prayer to St. Jude for you-he's my go to guy!  It will happen eventually-you'll see.  Hugs-Janet K
