I know how much protein we are supposed to have but does the body absorb only a certain amount at a time? the reason I am wanting to know this is I eat a buffalo burger (its the only red meat I can eat very well) one burger is 43 grams if I eat this will I not absorb all of the protein?

30g at one time. How big is the actual pattie that you are eating? For example is it more than a 1/2 cup in volume without a bun? My doctor's office has his patients only to eat up to 1/2 cup or if you are not done with that and are full then we are to stop eating. You basically are wasting the extra grams of protein over 30. Double check with your NUT or doc on the amount that THEY want you to consume at any give meal, grams or volume.  Christine

Thanks, I was thinking it was 30 grams was all that would absorb at a time it is a 5oz buffalo burger pattie but I don't know what it weighs after it is cooked I need to weigh it that way  I it amazing that I can eat that but cannot eat the regular beef as well only 3 bites of beef and I'm full. So I guess what I need to do is cut it in half and then add the cheese to it that way to make sure I'm not getting more than 1/2 cup. Thank you so much for the info!     Linda249

Try chopping it up in little pieces sometime after it is cooked and measure it in a 1/2 cup measuring cup. I am wondering if the beef burger is cooked too dry and that is why you cannot get it down? I am kind of surprised about the buffalo burger, that is leaner meat and would be dryer in texture. Christine

I have heard of the bread and that it is sold at TJs. Try to see if you can get it at Whole Foods or something similar. They do have flourless breads. I stopped eating flour for about a year because of a bowel problem and I bought some there. There used to be stores called Fruitful Yield in the Chgo area but mine closed, do not know if they all closed.  I do not have a TJs or WFs too close to me so I do not go very often. Christine
