Who turned the lights off?
We had over 3" of rain from 315 to about 8pm. I saw streets in my town flooded that I have never seen before and I have lived here all my life. My street corner which I am about 80' away from was totally flooded past the next neighbor's to the south of me (about 55') and the water was all the way up to the sidewalks. My corner is a little low and has a tendency to flood in heavy rain but it has not done this for about 3 years. In that big flood of '87 when we got what was it 18" the water was halfway up my driveway from the corner, we are about 5' higher than the street corner. We did not loose power but I lost internet service until about 10pm and by then I was too tired to reply to anyone and went to bed. Dave was home safe and sound from MN but he had rain, downpours at times all the way through WI. There were two roll overs outside of the Twin Cities with in 50 miles of one another. I told him to get off of the phone with me because he said the rain was coming down in sheets. I was a little nervous during that time of not talking with me until I talked to him again about an hour later.

Yesterday before I left work at about 315 it was blowing so hard that we could not see out of the windows on the west side of my building. The rain was coming down the windows in sheets. There were trees down in the street all over town. Public Works was out chopping them up to get them out of the roadways and there were trees down off private property into the streets also. I have a few dead branches from my maple trees but the streets are littered with twigs and branches all over town. We had a tornado watch until 4pm and then a severe t'strom watch until 8pm.

Hi Pam. I was lucky that I didn't lose power last night. My sister who lives in Glenview did and she was so sweet to call me to see if I got home OK. Yesterday afternoon I was in the tanning booth and then the lights got dim.. but then they went bright again. I thought I have to get out of here!
This morning though, I had a lot of street lights out and roads closed. I almost wasn't able to get to work today.
Hope everyone is OK and safe!
Hugs,
Lucy

Our power was out for about 30 min. yesterday afternoon. Plus, we had part of the storm that hit the city and burbs. We had been at Alexian Bros. when my DH saw a TV report on the weather. He told me that we were heading "out of dodge", before it hit. We got to Joliet when the storm blew up, but by the time we got home, the sun was out.
