Medicaid/Mini Gastric Bypass

Hello Everyone, My name is Lora. I had the LapBand done 5/10/06 @ Loyola Medical.Maywood,Il. It was great. No complications or anything. My problem is its 8/20/07 and all I've done is yo-yo back and forth about 15 lbs. I heard of the new Mini Gastric Bypass on YouTube! Of all places.I saw a video of the procedure. It's about a half hour surgery and your up and about in 24 hrs. My question is does anyone know if the procedure is covered by Medicaid? It covered my procedure with the band a year ago. Not sure whats going on now.  I'll be call my doctors office in the morning for sure but, I was just wondering if someone knew now.

Lora, before you go and have another surgery you really need to evaluate your life style and if you are really putting to work your tool of the band. Maybe it is just a matter of a fill or maybe your current band has a leak and does not hold the saline so therefore you do not have any restriction. You are taking the correct first step by contacting your doctor's office. Please come back and give all of us an update. Christine

Hi Christine, Thank you for your reply. I never thought of the band may have a leak. Just in my over all experience I'm frustrated and want immediate results. The band holds for about a month and a half and then I can start to feel my eating just alittle more.  I have Thyroid diease as well and am taking meds for that which is also affecting my wellness over all. In all honesty I have just been existing with this for about the last 5 months or so. Life,work, kids. I stopped and took a look at me again recently and am now making the effert again to put me first. I recognize that I have to come first and everything and everyone else will fall in line.
