Bariatric Surgeons Accepting Medicaid
I am having a hard time finding surgeons in my area that will accept Illinois Medicaid. I live in southern Illinois and am willing to travel 100 miles. Does anyone know of any surgeons in Illinois or Missouri that accept Illinois Medicaid? I have found a few surgeons that do, but the waiting list to get into them is very long. Thank you!
I have been trying with medicaid since 2004 GOOD LUCK I live 10 min from st louis and the only one working for me right now is u of c and it is a long wait!! Springfield i waited 2 years and my appointment isn't until april . might as well pick one and get comfy for the long haul! Dont want to sound *****y but it is very hard to find one. since the state only pays like a quarter of what reg insurance charges they bypass us for real insurance. but on the bright side some states don't allow medicaid to get the surgery so consider us at least a little lucky

I went to Dr. Glass**** in Cedarfalls, Iowa. They did not accept Illinois Medicaid, when I called I asked if they would get certification to accept it and they did. I had my first appt. in April and had my surg. in July. It took them from January to April to get there Illinois medicaid acceptance. They were great.

Shelli, if you don't mind me asking how did your surgeon go about getting the certification? also, can you e-mail me with the particulars of the doctor you went to: like name, phone number, etc....
I am really getting frustrated with the wait here in illinois.

Hi! I have been having a terrible time trying to find someone to accept Medicaid. I did register with Dr. Averdy at University of Chicago. Once he accepts you the waiting list is about six months. So, I had thought about looking into your doctor, too. What do you say to them when you call? Do you just flat out ask them if they would get certification for Illinois Medicaid??
