Any experiences is Springfield IL ??

good luck is all i can say. Siu clinic does not do lap band. only open rny. now i have heard good things about dr hammer i think is his name as long as he take your insurance.

Hi Gene! I am in Springfield. Dr. Hammer is WONDERFUL - has a great follow up plan and his staff and memorial treat you like royalty! I had the RNY, But I also researched the lap band with him. He has a great support group that you are welcome to attend. The first step is to call them and attend thier orientation class. It is a couple hours - but it answers all the questions you may have. next step would be insurance. Not sure what plan you are on, but his co-ordinator can help you figure out what you need to do. Thank you. I know I have know Max socially for several years and I never knew he did Lapband surgery. I will get a hold of him. I have medicare.........does it cover this surgery???

Gene: I'm a little south from you but I do know Medicare will cover but the place must have a certification of Excellence. I am going through New Start in St. Louis. My papers have been sent now I'm waiting to hear from the offices. I personnely talked with someone at Medicare because Medicare is my secondary insurance. Our primary won't cover so I thought Medicare would not but I was told that as long as I met the requirments they would cover.
