I keep getting denied by Blue Cross. Everytime I give them what they want they keep coming up with new things. I am getting so discouraged. The surgeons office has hired a lawyer for me to take the case. Does anyone think I have a chance with the lawyer. I am close to giving up. I feel no better then the person who doesn't have insurance.

What are they saying that you need each time that more paperwork is sent into BCBS? I would call their customer service number, document who you speak with, time, date and find out exactly what documentation is needed to be approved for your surgery. You should be getting letters from BCBS stating exactly why you are being denied. It may be as simple as coding is being entered wrong on one side (doctor or insurance co) or the other, or they are loosing paperwork and all of it is not being placed into your file correctly. It sounds like someone somewhere along the line on the insurance side has dropped the ball. It is a shame that the patient has to jump through all of these hoops. Fight them, it will be worth it in the end. They are just hoping that you will get discouraged and will stop hounding them. Chris

Don't give up. It took five appeals letter for my husband to finally get approved. Finally in my last letter. I systematically listed each date of every appointment or test that he had pertaining to obesity. Each time I sent an appeal letter I sent a copy to the Illinois Dept. Of Professional Regulation. Attention Dept. Of Insurance. Lastly I sent a copy to our attorney and our state senator. We finally got an approval. It took almost a year but we finally got it. Don't get discouraged the insurance companies just want to see how many hops you will go through before you give up. DON"T GIVE UP!!!! Hang in there.
