Hi Charlette, Just on line reading some new and old posts, and ran across your reply here, and noticed you said you work for bc/bs - I was wondering have you heard of being denied, because of 'LIMITED DOCUMENTATION OF ACTIVE PARTICIPATION IN A COMPREHENSIVE NON-SURGICAL WEIGHT MANAGEMENT PROGRAM', I called them after receiving the denial letter, and could not get an answer from them, as to what is missing, they have received 51 pages that were faxed, from my surgeons office, whi*****luded my 7months I have done at the Wellness Institute in Chicago, as well as my pcp's 5years of notes, and all my co-morbidities. I will be speaking to my surgeons co-ordinator, but wondered if you have any in-sight, I would really appreciate it..Thx---Mina

Hi Mina Are you trying to have the surgery done at Day One? No I have nevered heard of that reason to get denied. I would think it meands no enough documentation information.Was this the first denial you rec'd? Maybe you need to talk to surgeons office . Yes you need to talk to someone at the Dr office that handle their insurance information. And ask why? I am sure they should be able to help you. Or talk to the primary Dr and your PCP to help you also. Do you have HMOIL or PPO coverage? And are you on a group policy or self pay-Direct?

Hi Charllote, Thx for such a quick response, I will be having my Lap Band at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago, I have BC/BS Il PPO-thru AT&T. I will begin making my calls tomorrow. Good luck on your 14 day liquid diet, it won't be so bad,,,,, just think you are there already. You should be so excited, you will be having a NEW BIRTHDAY. I'll keep in touch. Hi Mina Who is doing your LapBand? Is it Dr Myer? I know he works out of that Day One. I Have HMOIL and my primary Dr told me last yr that I should change to a PPo that I would get faster results not true! I don't like PPo"s and I didn't change at open enrollment either. I have lost 10 pds I weight in the morning ( I do that as soon as I get up ) I need to stop that. 10 more days I am not excited yet because I am so involved in this 14 day liquid diet to make sure I am doing things right. Not bad either I told my sister my weight loss already she wants a copy of the liquid diet ! Mina keep calling who every you need to call don't let up!. Take Care, Let me know what's going on. My name is Claudia and I had surgery done at the Day One Health Clinic in Chicago on the 2nd of November and Dr. Myers did my surgery. I just have to say that he is a great doctor and am glad that he did it. Yes it does help that he is cute but he is a good doctor. I finally get my first adjustment tomorrow. I had some personal other problems (nothing to do with the band) that slowed my time to get my first adjustment but am looking forward for tomorrow. Everything went really smooth with no complications and am real excited to begin my weight loss this year. I have a couple of weddings to go this year and as my mom says I will be looking svelt by the time we go. I am also really excited because I will be seeing family members there that haven't seen me in over a year so this will is very motivating to me to see their reactions. I would suggest the Day One Health Clinic to anyone who would like to get this procedure done. If anyone has any other questions please write and I hope that I can help you in any way that I can.

I had my consult w/Dr. Meyer on Thur. Jan. 11 and I found everyone to be very nice. I have to wait on Yuko to call my insurance provider so that she can give me a consultation. I know my insurance pays for the Lap=Band because I called and asked, I have to have 6mo. of medically supv. diet. I have years of that but not 6mo. consecutively. Do you know if this is going to prevent me from being approved. How long did you wait til you found out you were approved? Do I see the nutirtionists and all the others while waiting on approval? I am so excited and nervous.

Hi Hollie I am having lap-band on Jan 26th at Rush and Dr Meyer will be doing it. He is such a nice Dr. I am on my liquid diet now 2nd day I have 13 more days to go. It is not that bad either. What kind of insurance do you have? I have been trying to do this since May of 2006, See I have a HMOIL and it all about referrals. Because there is no Dr that does that procedure at the hospital I go to. That is why I have to go to Rush. I had to submitt alot of paperwork, on how I have tried in yrs to lose weight, The my primary Dr had to submit it to the PCP to get a referral to go to Dr Myer. He wrote up RX's to get test done before I can have the surgery. Again referrals I had to get from my Primary Dr. Her office had to fax the result to Dr Meyer office. The I had another appt with Dr Myer to set up the date of surgery and to make sure I had all the test done. Also needed a letter from my Primary Dr to say she approved of the surgery. So its been along road but I kept calling my Primary Dr to ask about the status of my papers, test, referrals I know they were tired of me calling them up everyday. Now I can't believe its 13 days away.
