I had my RNY done by Dr Cahill in April of this year. I went to a plastic surgery and he said that most plastic wont do anything until you are a year out. Dont know it that is everyone, but I know he didnt want to do it, said because I am going to lose at least another 50 or so pounds. Said I should wait until I have been at goal for at least 6 months before plastic. Hope this helps Kathleen G. from Missouri

I am having the same troubles--- I know right now plastic surgery isn't going to workout too great... my only suggestion... keep it as dry as possible. Medicated powder and I love that lotion from the hospital--- that helps too.

Hi there!! Ok I am 3.5 years out and boy oh boy did I have rashes ect... not just that but the arm skin was very painful for some reason, especially when I would walk/run or exercise. Sometimes even laying on the skin hurt. I went to skin specialist and all that but it really doesn't help the rashes since they come and go. I had my surgery at Northwestern and they told me after the 2nd year I should have the tummy done, I could not loose any more, I still tried though but they were right , I like the way I eat now and I am a comfortable 10-12. Anyhow, my insurance would not pay one single dime of my plastics, so since I was paying I decided to search around. I found a surgeron that was not only very compentent but caring and pays attention to YOU when you speak. Geniunely concerned, informative and works with a lot of post opp patients, Dr Lisa Peters in Forest Park. Now keep track of your rashes, take pictures and go to doctor to document as much as possible, I have heard of people gettn the plastics paid for when they do this , though it didn't help me, I had to refinance my house. in the meantime, try to get some anitfungal cream from you doctor and keep the area as dry as possible, I used to put a piece of an old cut up cotton tshirt in between to absorb the moisture. Good luck and email me anytime!! Kim
