Hi, I'm new to this site/forum and would appreciate any help offered! I have Illinois Medicaid and have done my research and want to have the Lap Band Procedure. A little about me...I'm 5'5 and weigh 268. Ugh. I've been obese all my life with the exception of a rare moment of sun in high school when I was too busy to eat! I am divorced with a daugter 8 - who I want to remain around for! I'm so scared that I've let my weight get this out of hand. My brother had his first heart attack at 38 ( overweight at the time) and my dad died when he was 52. The family hx I have is SCARY....adding obesity to the list just makes it more so. My whole dad's side of the family are obese and die early of heart disease. I have htn/high cholesterol/acid reflux/depression.....you name it...I've had it, and I work in a family physician's office, so it's pointed out daily just how bad this is for me. ( IN A GOOD WAY THOUGH...MY BOSS IS EXTREMELY SUPPORTIVE OF ME HAVING THIS SURGERY! ) ANYWAY>..I'd love to get to know anyone who's had the Lap Band surgery. I have close friends who've had RNY, and that's not for me at this time. Hope to here from anyone soon!

From what I understand, I don't think IDPA will pay for lap band. Hope this helps. Allison
