Names Of Protein Supplements

From those of you who have had surgery I need your opinion on what is the best protein supplements to buy. Which ones taste better and any tricks or tips that you have. My husband's surgery is scheduled for Dec. 6th and I am just trying to have everything ready. Any help that you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Angela, Actually this is all a very personal thing. You will need to get a few and see which one he is going to like. For my husband and I we like EAS Advant Carb Control. It is a ready mix, 15g of protein and 100 calories. We get ours by the case at Sam's club. You can get them at some stores that sell protein drinks in the four packs also. They come in chocolate, strawberry, vanilla and they used to have a berry flavor and I do not know if they have that anymore. Sam's only sells the chocolate. We also like Profect tubes of protein. 25g of protein and I cannot remember the calories. They are fast, fairly good and very portable. I think they are 3 oz of liquid in a test tube shaped plastic container. Our favorite is Met-Rx protein powder. They come in envelope packets. You are to mix them with 16 oz of liquid, we use skim milk. The milk of course adds more calories. I empty a bunch of envelopes into a big plastic tub and scoop out 1/3 cup of the powder to 1 cup milk and 4 ice cubes from the fridge into my Bullet and blend away. It makes a great smoothy. The whole packet has 38g of protein and a lot of calories so that is why I cut it in 1/2. Besides a PO really cannot finish off a full packet very fast because even without the ice it is very, very thick. I get mine at GNC. They can be purchased at many different health stores I am sure. I know of another one in my area that sells it also. I did try Unjury and really did not care for them. I think that it may taste better with a little bit of SF syrup flavoring. I cannot remember the protein or calorie content of them. You can get samples of them via their web site. Hope this all helps. Chris
