University of Chicago
I have a few questions regarding the U of Chicago surgery center. I noticed they are one of the few hospitals that does the DS. Has anybody had any WLS surgery there? They want $125 just to sign up! If I knew more of what that was for, it wouldn't bother me a bit. I've spent $125 in one WEEK trying to diet over many years! Since my insuance requires a 6 month supervised diet program, do you know if UofC does that or do I still have to do that through my family doc? Does the UofC do any of the pre-testing? I met with one surgeon in Belvidere and they gave me a few tests that had to be performed, but they said just call a local doctor in my town and send them the results. Does anyone know how UofC operates? Thanks, everyone!
Hi Jean ... there was a conversation about this here a short time ago: http://obesityhelp.com/forums/IL/postdetail/28584.html?vc=0
Good luck to you!

I am in the process of going to u of c for the ds as well You need to go to your dr every month just for weighing and talk about losing weight for your insurance. Now I have tp wait 4-6 months for my appointment because I have medicaid but if you have private insurance they push you up the list and you will have an appoinment in about a month. They will give you all the testing you need or you can have your dr order it if you live far away or they can do ( they have longer waits because thats what they do)
as for remedy md they say you wont be charged untill after you have surgery. I however was charged and then was over drawn. I went to the informational meeting and pretty much everyone there as well one lady twice! They do appolagize and refund if it happens. they have a great program and they do ds laproscopic too. Good luck to you
I had RNY done at U of C on 7-11-06. They didn't take the money out of my account till about 2 months later.
Basically Remedy MD House call is a web site that has a chat room, message board and weight loss journal..... You have to register before they will even talk to you. I thought it was a scam at first but it isn't.
You can do almost everything through your family doctor. I only went to U oc C 3 times b4 surgery. Meet all the doctors, 4 hour class and a meeting right b4 surgery. I did everything else in my town. The only diet they put me on was a 30 day liver shrinking diet cause I have fatty liver. Are you going to U of C or Belvidere? I actually live in Belvidere but they dont take my insurance. Good luck!!

Have you asked this on the DS board or over at www.duodenalswitch.com?
