Help? Central DuPage Hospital ?
Hi Everyone,
Well it appears that the Wish Center is stopping their WLS here in the Aurora/Naperville/Downers Grove area. The hospital closest I believe is Central DuPage. Do any of you know about the WLS program? Have you heard any good/bad things about Dr. David Klem?
Any info would be greatly appreciated as I am an angel and Mary is being bounced around like a rubber ball.
Thanks,
Kathy
Kathy, I do know that there are some bariatric surgeries done there but I do not know anything about the program or the doctor. I was just at Dr Rosen's support group for WISH on Thursday and he claims that they are going to continue the support groups through the end of the year. He is also saying that he will be getting letters out to all of his patients after Oct 13th to let all know what the next steps are that he is taking with him starting a new program. Last Friday was the last day for surgery with WISH at Provena in Aurora. I can let you know more after this Thursday because I am going into see the team for my 3 year apt (a little late, but life got busy in May). I will keep you posted. Chris

Hi Kathy -
I don't know about Central Dupage's WLS but I love the hospital. I landed in the hospital this pas January w/ a staphe infection for six days and they were absolutely wonderful. I did all of my pre-op appointment there too because they are in my insurance network.
I did get a flyer in the mail about a week ago introducing there WLS Dr's.
I had an appointment at the Wish Center today. Dr. Rosen was out of town but was able to see everyone else. They have a support group meeting next Thursday from 7 - 9 at Provena Mercy Hospital.
Look forward to meeting you Chris and anyone else that may be able to make it.
Christina
I had my survery there 3/15/05. Dr. Klem is wonderful and the staff at the bariatric center. They really follow up closely with you and excellent at answering questions. They have a lot of support groups too for after care. I honestly was not that impressed with the nurses on the floor after surgery but the nurses assistants were excellent. They are trying to complete the Center for Excellence designation and I am sure they will. I had BCBS Wisconsin and had no problem being approved. When I first met with them I was not sure if I would like their program but now would recommend it in a heartbeat.
Any questions feel free to email me! Have a great day!

Howdy Kathy,
There is a pretty good size, ( no pun intended ) bariatric program based at CDH...I started in a WLS program with Dr. Jonathan Spitz there before opting for a LapBand procedure I felt was MY better option and I could get it performed and maintained closer to home. I know you can find Spitz online with no trouble.
