BCBS OF IL -GOOD NEWS!!!

BCBS OF ILLINOIS has changed their requirements for WLS EFFECTIVE 9/1/2006. You now only have to have 6 months of supervised diet before going in for surgery. Check out the policy at: www.bcbsil.com/medpolicy . No more of the 12 months!!!! Congrats to those who just met the criteria! You can plan your surgery now.

This is great news for all those covered by BCBS of IL. You know what I would suggest is that you post this on the main message board sometime today or this week. Because there are a lot of people from other states that are covered by BCBSIL. I have seen posts from other frustrated members about this insurance. I am just so happy that my husband and I did not have to go through that with them. For us it could be our individual policy which is a very generous through my employer. We breezed right in and had surgery with in 3-6 months after approval. Chris

Good luck. I was all excited too...submitted all the requrired documentation...along with a copy of their policy, a 3 page letter from me, a letter from my mother, surgeon & PCP...just rec'd my letter stating "we need more information before we can consider this surgery". But then would not tell me what they needed - just quoted their policy ..which I already know by heart. Go figure....my surgeon resent everything...highligted and circled along with their policy again.....we will see... Tracy M. Winter Haven, FL
