Hi everyone. I'm new to this site. I had my surgery March 17, 2006 and so far have lost 93 pounds. I go to a local support group and found it extremely helpful. That's where I got this site and thought I'd check it out. I would be interested in finding others to e-mail for support. I'm located in Southern Illinois.

Thanks Karyn for the welcome. I see your post-op since 2003. HAve you had any problems maintaining since your loss? I would be interested in any feedback you have to offer. Melody

Ahhh ... well, most of this is in my profile (but I realize its a bit daunting and difficult to read, especially because its in reverse chronological order!) ... from Septmeber 2004 through July 2005 (my 15th-25th months post-op), I had gained 20 pounds. FREAKED me out (I mean ... what do you do if surgery doesn't work? Maybe I was naive thinking I couldn't gain after surgery, OR ... at least not that much, that FAST ... I hadn't gained a single pound for the entire year prior to surgery, and I KNOW I was eating more back then). One week after I found out I had gained, I was bit by a neighbor's dog and was hospitalized twice for 5 days each within a 3 week period. Being on pain meds and stopped up for several days, I just had no appetite. And I still haven't gotten it back. Top it off with abdominal pains I started getting when I got home from the hospital anytime I ate solid foods (I've been told my gallbladder "should probably" come out), I became quite restrictive with my eating. I have been battling this for almost a year now (and have since lost 80 more pounds since last July). I realize that weight loss is and will be an issue all my life, and I can never turn my back and think that "I've got it down", or that I can stop journaling, attending support groups, weighing in, seeing my nut, or whatever else it takes. BUT ... I don't recommend getting bit by a dog to get "back on track" (lol). How are you doing? Karyn
