Looking for Support Group in IL

I am moving to Downers Grove in little over a week and I am looking for a support group. I had RNY 8/24/05 and am down 90 pounds. Good luck in your move! That is a major life change and a major decision. I admit, I did not read your profile, what is making you make this change especially right before winter? J/T I go to a support group in Joliet. Not really close to you but if you do not find anything closer to you please let me know and I will give you the details of my group. Hi Nancy I read that you go to a support group in Joliet. Is that very everyone? (meaning pre and post op). I think that it would be a good idea for me to go to one to at least talk about my fears and concerns with wanting to have the surgery. Please let me know when and what time and all that good stuff. Hi Dawn ... I am FROM Downers Grove (folks are still there) ... I'm sure you'll love it out there! I attend a few different support groups, most are in the north/nw burbs and downtown, the closest one to you I go to is in Oak Park ... let me know if you're interested in any of that info. I'm still seeking out others too ... so I'd love to know where else others go! Karyn P.S. Karen, THanks for the info. We are relocating for my husbands work. I am looking forward to the change. We have never lived anywhere other than AZ, so yes we are both crazy to be relocating but up for the challange. Dawn

Hi Karyn, I am sorry to bother you, but I read your post and was wondering where the support group in Oak Park is. I am going to have the Lap Band at Loyola next week. I went to one of the support groups there, but it seemed to be mainly an informational meeting. Any ideas? I live about two blocks outside Downers Grove~ THANK YOU!!

hey Heather! I know Willowbrook quite well!! The one at Oak Park is at West Suburban Hospital ... the next one is this coming Monday (let me know if you're interested, I'll make sure I meet up with you) ... I know there is one more on the south side (around 95th and Western, through Little Company of Mary), but I don't have particulars on that quite yet. I see Christine also gave you info about the Wish Center in Downers Grove, and I'll be sure to dig up a few more for you. I also know someone else who just had lapband at Loyola a few months ago, maybe we all could meet up before your surgery!! Look forward to meeting you! --Karyn

Thanks Karyn! I appreciate it. I know exactly where West Sub is. I am originally from Oak Park! How convenient! I am going to ask the surgeon too about other groups int eh area when I go in. I am definitely looking forward to support groups because I think it is great to be able to talk to people who are going through the same things. I probably won't be going this Monday since Wed is my surgery, but I do plan on attending afterwards. I just need to get organized before surgery with my babies and home, etc. FUN! I am currently on the liquid pre-op diet and I am STARVING! hahaha But I am already down 3 pounds! WHOOHOO! Off to have some broth! THANKS again!!!!!
