Is anybody familiar with the Chicago Public Schools Board of Ed?

Sorry to post this here, but I need help. This is my situation: I went to enroll my 6 year old son to the closest school by my home. I live in Chicago. The lady at the office told me there was no space for him and that he would have to be on a waiting list and it will take from 2-3 years for them to get him in that school. So basically they want my son to waste his time in the house doing nothing, they are crazy. The reason I want him to really get into this school is because both of my sisters go to this school and they can take him to and from school for me. I am a single mom and I have to work full-time to support my family. I don't know anybody by my neighborhood that takes their kids to another school besides this one. The name of the school is Peck Elementary School. I can't believe they don't have space for a 1st grader. I tried speaking to the principal, but supposedly he won't speak to anybody about enrollment. I don't know what to do, but there has to be a way to put my son in this school. Any body that maybe had the same problem, I need your advice please. Or anyone that is familiar with Chicago Public Schools Board of Ed please help. I already called Board of Ed about 30 min. ago and they told me that if the school is full then it's full. That my son would have to be bused to another school far by halsted and the Dan Ryan area. Maria M.
