i need help!!

hi there i am a newbie to this site, but geesh i have spent hours and hours and hours looking through all the info.. i am looking for info on insurance, and hospitals and drs that will accept the illinois medical card in the central illinois area..i live in decatur, but i am willing to go other places..im feeling desperate... also...i saw on someones post that if you smoke, that you will have to be smoke free for 3 months before they will even consider you for surgery..is this true... any help or advice for a newbie would be soo appreciated..any..and all.... thanks so much!! jacki

Try the baratric clinic in Clinton. Also that is true about my smoking.

Hi and welcome Jacki I'm not sure about the IL medical card ... you may want to check out the COMP clinic in Springfield http://www.siumed.edu/medicine/comp.htm and give them a call. As for smoking, it is dangerous ... your body doesn't oxygenate properly and you can have problems with anesthesia, healing and general recovery overall. The time difference required by surgeons may be different but it IS something to keep in mind. Good luck!!

Peoria Surgical Group has an awesome Bariatric Program. It is a program, there are lots of requirements, but i know they take the medical card and the doctors are wonderful!! Review all the info available before deciding on a doctor for sure. Find one that suits you and that you can work with, because you will be working together for a long time to come.
