Just starting to check things out, but first:

I am a 52 year old male, I have HIV infection and several health problems such as arthritis, asthma, broncitis,very bad pitted edema of my feet and legs, I also have Lipodystrophy due to the protease inhibitors (medication) I take for the HIV infection. There seems to be some problem in finding a Dr. that will perform surgery on people that are HIV positive. Does anyone know of a person that has had the surgery that is HIV positive? Except for the problems that I am having with my weight, I'm very healthy and my cd4s are good and my viral load is undetectable. Thank you, Paul

Hi Paul! I don't really have an answer for you other than to just keep checking with various surgeons. I imagine it must be frustrating, but surely there is someone who is willing to do the surgery, especially since your cd4s are in good shape and you have no sign of the AIDS virus. I wish you luck in your search for a surgeon. Hang in there, If you don't find someone in Peoria how about Springfield or Champaign or even Chicago?
