Illinois Public Aid

I have IDPA. My insurance thru my job wouldnt approve me to have the duodenal switch at University of Chicago. Public Aid approved me in about 2 weeks with no pre-op BS. My mother-in-law also used her IDPA benefits but because she is over 50 they made her do a series of heart stress tests. Everything was covered just the same. We weren't treated any differently. Never saw a bill. If the doctor your friend chooses accepts IDPA, they will handle the auth request. Your friend wont have to do anything.

Jennifer, Sorry it took so long for me to respond. The number and address to Little Company of Mary Hospital is: (708) 422-6200 - 2670 W 95th St, Evergreen Park, IL. No, when my friend went to the University she didn't mention anything about a fee. Now, IDPA does not send you through all that mumbo jumbo like the other insurances. I got appoved in 1 1/2 week; they told me the only reason why it took that long was because of the holiday. I guess it depends on how well your doctor write it up too. Hope I helped a little.
