Hello everyone, I posted this on the main board also but thought maybe I would get a good response from fellow Illinoisians. I have a friend who is interested in WLS and she has public aid. Does anyone out there have any recent experience or knowledge about coverage of WLS with Ill. Public Aid? Any help would be great. Thanks Jennifer

I went through the whole process with cori center down to blood work then they decided they were not taking anymore public aid at the time and I had to start over again. They also sent me someone elses paperwork with all there medical history and when I called and told them they didn't care they said just throw it away. and I think her name is nadine? she is a idiot. I started back with the comp clinic in springfield and it takes about a year but they do have a great before and after care program.

Jennifer, Well Cori Center did my surgery in October,2005. But they are closed now. My friend had her surgery from the University of Chicago Hospital. Now I am hearing that the Little Company of Mary is performing this surgery with Public Aid. So hopefully that will help you. It just matters on what doctor will accept the medical card. I also didn't have a problem with public aid accepting me for the surgery. It took less than 2 weeks. When regular insurance took forever and you had to go through alot of loop holes.
