Topic: Last Chance for OH Magazine Savings!
Just a friendly reminder that today and tomorrow are the last two days of OH Magazine's special promotional subscription price of just $20 for one year (six issues). The price will go back to our regular 2005 price of $25 for one year (six issues) on October 1. So, if you have been dragging your feet, now is the time to start running!
I also want to thank the hundreds of people who have already subscribed this month! We are thrilled to have your support and hope that you will thoroughly enjoy every issue of this revamped version of the magazine many of you have loved for years! :-D
Thanks especially to those of you who have shared such great comments about the magazine as part of the ongoing "Plan C" contest (www.oh-magazine.com/contest.php)... here are a few of the amazing comments:
"This magazine saved my life. Had I not found it I would never have had the courage to find a surgeon in my area and make a consultation. I am a year and a half post-op. I have lost 158 lbs. I feel terrific, and OH
helped me."
Gail, New York
"Thank you, Thank you. A delightful magazine. Very upbeat. I believe
your magazine saves lives."
Avalon, California
"I just stumbled upon the magazine, and to find the September issue
covering topics that I am currently struggling with was amazing. It was
like you were reading my mind. Your magazine could not have come at a
better time."
Amy, Iowa
We are so humbled and glad to know that we are touching lives. And, as always, we are glad to hear from readers--whether you have something good or bad to say. Feel free to drop me a note if you have any questions or comments! It may take me a while since I get an awful lot of e-mail, but I make a point of responding to every e-mail I get: [email protected]

Topic: Non Mail Handlers Insurance
I actully have two questions (1) I would like to ask if anyone who has this ins. have had open RNY and had gotten hernias as a result of the original surgery? If so, did you get a revison because the surgery caused it? I had my RNY in 2000 and got the hernias after that. My surgeon would have done a revision but my currant ins.(PACIFICARE OF OREGON), who didn't require all the tests the first time, had me do the nutrienist, phych. evaluation and the sleep study only to then denied the revision.
(2) I need to change carriers and could get the non mail handlers ins. here in Idaho during open season. Is it a good ins. for someone like me who is disabled and have cronic health problems?

Topic: U.S. vs Mexico
Hi everyone,
I'm new here and looking for some info. I have been researching Lap Band surgeons in the US and Mexico. My insurance carrier (Blue Cross of Idaho) has a policy exclusion. . .of course!!! I am quite leary about going to Mexico for surgery, but cannot afford U.S. prices. Can you guys give me some feedback from your experiences (both positive and negative) in Mexico please? Also, what do you do about fills? I cannot locate a MD here that will do fills if you are not a patient of theirs. Anyone know of a good low cost lap band surgeon in Idaho???
Thanks much!
BB
Topic: RE: Hi all - new to Idaho Board..
Hi Jeremy, I'm new too. I'll be going down to Mexico for surergy Oct 10th. with Dr. Kuri's group. There is a South of the Boarder board? I hail from CDL in the north. Good luch and be well. Alta
Topic: RE: Northern Idaho
Hi Back at you Becky, Thanks for answering. I know what you mean about Mexico! I've researched the MD and the services as much as I can without being there. The MD is listed and has a web site on the profressional list here. After care is a concern of mine too. But as to the hospital it is a 24 hour stay then 2 days of recovery time in a hotel near the MD's. So, I'm flying down to San Diego, then picked up by a driver, pre surgery physical and tests and if that's a go, surgery the next day. Home two days later back to CDL.
Becky was there much discomfort or physical limitations after your surgery? Thanks, Alta
Topic: RE: Northern Idaho
Good luck Alta! I sure worry about you going to Mexico, but I know people got to do what they got to do. Are you staying down there for awhile? I know I was readmitted to the hospital after discharge, so make sure you are safe okay?
I don't have a support group, but would definitely like one. Some of the people I thought in the Lewiston area were getting one together, but still haven't heard of it.
Smiles,
Becky
