Weight Loss Surgery Outcomes Study-
Please share with anyone who might be interested....
We need your help!
We are looking for people who have had Gastric Bypass Surgery prior to March 1, 2003 to complete a short internet survey about their experience.
The survey will take less than 10 minutes to complete and is completely anonymous.
In appreciation for your time, you will be given an opportunity to enter a drawing for a $50 gift certificate to Amazon.com.
Your input will also help us develop a greater understanding of the longer term outcomes and challenges of this surgery. The results will be used to support others who are considering, have had, or are planning to have Gastric Bypass Surgery.
Unfortunately, very little is known about the long term experiences of people who have undergone bariatric surgery. We are a group of researchers at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine who are interested in learning about how your life, eating habits and weight have changed since your surgery. We are interested in learning about positive and negative experiences, challenges, and other changes you have encountered along the way.
If you are interested in participating please click on the link below or enter the web address in your browser window.

At this time we are only surveying people who have had Gastric Bypass Surgery more than 3 years (36 months) ago. We hope to learn more about other procedures in the future.
Thank you in advance for your support of this important research! If you have any questions please contact us at [email protected]
Thanks for your help in doing this.

Topic: RE: Doctors supporting WLS taking new patients??
Hi Juli, Thanks for your concern and congrats on returning your paperwork. You should hear word back in less then two weeks. Be prepared to have at least $250 or more for your first months payment up front to start your policy. As for me I am doing ok. I hurt really bad and I am still trying to manage the pain. I will have to take more time off work then expected. I only went for two weeks but I will need three. I also have an allergic reaction on my stomach from something so that is complicating things. I try to walk but it hurts my back so much. I am so used to be up and moving around it is very hard for me to sit here and watch my house be a disaster from three kids and a hubby and I cant do anything. It takes everything out of me just to get dressed and put my hair up now. I am sure it will get easier. I just need more time. I am only 7 days post op. Let me know how things go with you.

Hi Jan,
I was wondering how you are doing since your surgery? Is it getting any better? I remember when my niece had hers it was tough. Any suggestions? I sent my paper work to Barbara now I am just waiting to hear from her and see what I do next. Thanks for all your information and support. Hope all is well. Juli

Topic: Weight Loss Tracking Form
Hello Everyone,
I found a weight loss sheet online that I modified and made very useful. It tracks your weight loss and also shows you a graph and you can even print yourself a Certificate to Congratulate yourself on your weight loss.
It is in Microsoft Excel and is very easy to use. If you would like a copy please e-mail me at [email protected] and I will e-mail you a copy.
Thanks,
Dave

I submitted my paperwork to BC for my own policy a couple days before thanksgiving. I have a policy through BC from my husbands employer so I had to cancel that. But not yet. I found out Dec. 2 that I was approved for my own policy and gave Barb my first payment that day. I saw Dr Oakley for the consult on Dec. 5. I got a hold of my husbands employer and canceled my insurance through them affective 12/1/05 and the other one took effect. I got approved for the surgery on 12/16/05. You have to come up with $1500 cash to give to Oakley and the assitant surgeon. So that took me a bit and we were looking at Feb. for my surgery. By the time it was done and over with and I was able to save up for my portion it was March 13th was my day. It goes by fast believe me. As for me I had a Laproscopic RNY. Just be prepared to not drink for days and I lost my voice because of it. I couldnt wait till Tuesday afternoon when I got to sip something. I checked in Monday Morning for surgery. I was out by 10 and in my own room by 1130. I dont remember much. But I am very sore.
