Topic: RE: Reagence BlueShield of Idaho
I work for an employer who also has an exclusion in our insurance, we have BC/BS. I have talked to other people on this website locally that have purchased a health inurance policy on there own thru BC/BS and have been accepted. I am trying this route myself, it says it is excluded unless medically necessary. I am hoping with the right doctor and his nurse, Doctor Oakley, that they can write it up to say it is medically necessary. THis is my last hope as well. Good luck!! let me know if you have success as well. Thanks.

I work for a company that has a exclusion to not cover surgery because of my Employer. I am trying to purchase a BC/BS policy on my own and it says it will cover the surgery if medically necessary. Maybe you could check that out or your doctor could state it is medically necessary. I hope this helps. It is frustrating, if they only knew the money they would save in the long run by paying for the surgery. Let me know if you have success.

Topic: Question...???
Has anyone ever gotten approval from BC of Idaho with a diagnosis other than morbid obesity? for example, severe acid reflux, diabetes, hiatal hernia, etc.? Blue Cross told me that the doctor would have to submit it for something other than weight loss because it is an exclusion in my policy. But...I have already been denied for wls. Does that look funny? Thanks, Kelli

A rider is just a portion of the policy that an employer opts into or out of when contracting insurance for thier employees. IF they don't buy a rider to cover bariatrics, then it's excluded. I've never seen anyone fight and win against that I'm very sorry. Have you considered financing? Some food for thought anyway... Is it through your employer or the state?

Hello All, I am just starting this whole process and I find that I am already discouraged. I have done some research only to find that nobody living in Idaho and being insured by Regence BS has yet been approved for WLS. Is this what others have found also? If so, then I have no chance with WLS due to financial reasons. I hope I hear from at least just one person who has gained approval...

Topic: PLEASE PRAY FOR MY GRANDPA
Today is a bad day. I have been crying so much that It took me a long time to get signed onto the net. I need to turn to you all again, but now it is for my Grandpa. My Grandpa Earl is my maturnal Grandfather. He is 84 years old. He and my Nana raised me part of my life and I am very close to them. They recently just left my town to make their last trip to Las Vegas. My Grandpa had fallen on hard cement and broke his hip I am told. He has to have surgery. He is at a hospital in Las Vegas called Mountain View Hospital. My Grandpa's PCP here in Chelan had told him a few months back that he has a leaking heart valve and if there were to do surgery that it my be too much for him and he may not make it. I am so very worried that I may lose my Grandpa. I don't even have money to go be with him. I fear I may not see him again. I am trying to stay positive. I just can't stop crying about him. He will have to stay in a convalescent hospital for 6-8 weeks. He is so far away from home. All I can do is pray my heart out and turn to everyone at OH for theirs prayers. My Nana (grandmother) was stepping out of the elevator at the hospital and stubbed her bad toe bad enough that now she is in the emergency room there getting checked out. PLEASE, PLEASE pray for them. I hope many people are reading this. Please send to others you know, churches, anyone. We need your prayers. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Debbie Davidson
