Hello, I had RNY in Idaho Falls with Dr. Podany. Pocatello does not have much of a support group and I am seeking one. I can't afford to drive out to Idaho Falls all the time and as you know eather can get bad on that road. This last winter I slid off the road doing 360's behind a semi (All is well) but it scared me. If you need a walking buddy... I go to Fitness Inc in Pocatello also. Let me know.

Hi I just wanted to check in with you people. I am a Medicare patient and live in Idaho. Medicare does cover the lap banding surgery..Medicaid does not. I had my surgery in Tennessee last July at Vanderbilt and I get my fills in Boise now that I am in Idaho. Medicare does pick up the tab for the surgery and the fills, so please don't worry about that part of it. Whoever told you Medicare doesn't cover it is absolutely and positively wrong.
If you have any more questions feel free to ask me. In 9 mo. I have lost 98 lbs. and I love my band. I am at goal.

The Mini Cassia LapBand/Weight Loss Surgery Support Group meeting will be held May 1st, 2007 @6:30 PM at the Heyburn Police Department 1800 J Street Heyburn.
If you have already been banded, are waiting to be banded or are considering being banded, then this meeting is for you, and you are most welcome! Gastric bypasses also welcome!!!

Thank you for emailing me back and giving me a link to the type of surgery you had. I had follow up blood work that has to be done every year. This way the malabsorbtion
problems and making certain that you have enough vitamins and protein.
I see my primary Care physician. Hopefully in the near future I can see Dr. Oakley in Boise. I am glad that I had to have the tests yearly. The routine tests showed a health issue that I wouldn't have known untill it was much furthure along.
It was cold in Twin this morning and we still had snow at home .

There is no follow up visits. Dr. Alvarez who did my surgery, has 0% leakage and has not had one patien return for any problems. He has done close to 300 of the VSG's. If you don't know what a VSG is it is Vertical Sleeve Gasterectomy. You can view how that procedure is done by going to www.endobariatric.com and look. He learned it from the dr. who invented it in France, and the technique the way they do it, is 0% leakage. No reason to follow up..
It will be nice one of these days if we can meet up. Let me know when and if you ever come up on a weekend.

I would love to meet up with you. I had RNY in February of 2004. Dr. Oliak in Orange California did my surgery. I haven't had any complications.
Who is going to do your follow up visits locally ? My PCP is against gastric bypass. So whenever I go to see him he blames everything on the surgery.

I am off to Twin tonight for a sleep study. I have fibromyalga and the pain doctor wants this study done or no more pain meds.

wow, another Christian friend. This doesn't appen too often.
Have you had surgery yet? If so how long ago?
I had my surgery on March 16th, with Dr. Alvarez in Piedras Negras, Mexico. It was awesome.
I wanted to touch base with someone closer, maybe we can meet next time you come to Twin, if it is a weekend. I live in Buhl. It would be neat to meet you.
