Topic: The flame never dies because the commitment never ends!
Hello fellow Oher's, I have found this last few months, well years for me but really this last few months having a buddie while you are trying to lose weight is so important, when you are wanting to be accountable on your lifestyle change or any lifestyle change for that matter, it is great to have someone there to help you with it, if you try to go it alone you might be feeling alone, lonely, you might feel abandoned, I just know I might not be as successful as I could be if I had some accountablity to back me up. I say this to my self: Dont do it alone! I make no bones about it, that I am not doing this alone, first and formost I have Alan  my (DH) Alan is a rock solid accountablity partner for me, if you dont have a Alan in your life you should get one,  (I dont mean a husband or wife) I am talking about someone that loves you, cares for you, and will be there for you NO MATTER WHAT.  No matter what you are going thru "you need that for your self" It is just indespenceable that you have that.  You just have to have someone there thats going to be there for you. Now it is so very nice to have On-Line friends , it's good to have a physical person that you can come and talk to and have them kick you in the fanny if you need it and have them love on you at just the right times. I am one of those perople that need a verbal kick in the hiney once in awhile, The Online community and support group members have been fanstic and understand everything I am going thru, these are great resources to stay accountable to.   These people will be there to support you in your life no matter what choices you make, and no matter where your journey takes you. God Bless everyone, Kristy

Just wanted to say Hello. I am new to the Idaho forum. I live in Salmon, Idaho and have been told that there is a support group here. Does anyone have information that would help me get into contact with this group?  Thank you for your time.

I would go to the Physician Center in the hospital...I used to work there. Their phone number is 733-4343 , I know most docs there are accepting new patients. I would recommend Dr Dan Preucil (pru-soul). He was my doc and he is excellent. Very thourough and professional. He followed up with Dr O for my surgery and he was willing to do so...
Good luck, I am sure you will find a doc,
Carla

Thankyou Carla, Yes it is a very quiet little town,, I was raised in Rigby Idaho, and my husband was raised in Pocatello, His dad and mom live in shelly, my family or some of them are still in Rigby...My oldest daughter and family live here in kimberly, and I was soooo tired of the rain and green color in Washington after 15 some years there, I wanted to come home...so my daughter said come on so I did..LOL..Thank you I am very glad to be home again after all these years....    Thankyou also for the info and web site, I will call Dr. Oakley this week and see if he can do my follow ups, My dr. in washington will not give me my test results cause he says a dr. needs to see them to tell me what needs done I guess, I was getting very frustrated trying to find even a  family doc around here, they seem to be not taking new patients at this time...    So I guess until I get one, I will have to come to this group for any questions, concerns etc...although right now my only concern is my hair seems to be falling out a bit at a time...even though I drink the protein drinks religiously...also I am almost out of the vitamin B12 injections my doc was giving me...   Other wise I seem to be doing ok...    Have you had the surgery? or thinking about it?...   Well thank you for the quick reply it helped tremendously...    Gaydria

Welcome to Idaho. Kimberly is a quiet little place I think you'll enjoy. I just moved to Idaho Falls from Twin Falls. There are no bariatric doctors in the TF area but Dr Oakley does have a support group every first Monday of every month at 7 pm at the hospital Education Center right next to the Safe Kids building. Although Oakley is in Boise he sends his nurse and dietician for a support group. His website is thinidaho.com

Good luck,

Carla

If I hear of one in my area I will let you know, in the mean time I need one for follow up, so I can get all my last test results from my doctor in federal way washington, I can't seem to find a bariatric doc here, and almost as hard to get a family doc..as they are not taking new patients right now...   So if you hear of one , I live in Kimberly Idaho, that is close to TwinFalls Idaho...and Burley, about 100 miles to Boise and Idaho Falls, which I am willing to travel if I have to...   Thank you Gaydria

Hi all:     I just moved from Tacoma Washington to Kimberly Idaho...I am having a hard time finding a bariatric doc here to take up on follow ups for me, and the same with finding a family doc, who is taking new patients...Anyone have any ideas?...    I am doing pretty good so far as I can tell nothing major anyway, a bit of hair loss but nothing too bad, and my back still hurts like crazy every day...    I am finally able to eat food instead of just jello, pudding and water...but still have to watch some things, like rice for instance feels a bit too heavy on my stomach, and I fight with myself every day trying to down the protien drinks, yuk, any suggestions on making that taste better? I am all ears,   Does anyone know exactly how much protein we are supposed to have every day?,    and if there is anyone in Kimberly who has had the surgery, who lives in Kimberly, It would be nice to have a walking partner, or in TwinFalls, probably not but I had to ask anyway...   I had the proximal bypass on may 23rd of last year, 250 to hmmm not sure now 2 months ago it was 165.5, no scales yet so can't weigh myself....though my pants are still a size 12, but a bit baggy so I know I lost a bit more, and yes oh boy do I have a bit a flab and wrinkles, though in my face it is starting to tighten up a bit...Well thats about it for now....    Thank you Gaydria

Dr. Robert Korn in Boise accepts Medicare.  I don't know about Medicaid though.  He is the only Dr. I could find in this area that does accept it.  Dr. Oakley must of just started accepting it, because a couple of months ago he wasn't.  If I had known that he was, I probably would have gone to him.  But, Dr. Korn seems to know what he is doing.  So I am going to go with him, besides that, I have already paid $150 consultation fee.

I understand Dr. Oakley's office in Boise is now accepting Medicaid and Medicare patients they were just approved in association with St. Lukes Hospital in Boise. Dr. Oakley's web site is www.thinidaho.com. Jennifer is the lady to talk to about the insurance she is a pro and Dr. Oakley has done over 500 surgeries and is going to preform surgery on my 65 year old mother in law in two weeks and she has the medicare/medicaid and a supplement insurance.
