Topic: RE: Just wanting to correspond with any patients of Dr. Oakley, that are in the Boise Area.
Scott, I just wanted to thank you for being so supportive. Not only have you been willing to leave me feedback, it looks like have have been just as kind to everyone else. I too am going to visit Amy (brwilken)  in the hospital. I hope that your wife's surgery goes well. I will keep her in my thoughts. In regard to Dr. Korn.  I have already jumped through all the hoops for Dr. Oakley and he has a great staff.  I am really confident that I will be getting the surgery and have it paid for. Everyone in Dr. Oakley's  and at my own PCP's office are really standing by me. I feel less worried right now because I know that I meet all the guidlines. I think that I have all my ducks in a row. Now I am just waiting and daydreaming about how much better I will feel. After all that is what started this quest. I was tired of feeling so ill and having a hard time controlling my pain. Thanks again, Heather

Topic: RE: MEDICAID AND MEDICARE SURGEONS LIST!
Dr. Korn of Boise, Idaho takes both Medicaid and Medicare.  My husband used both insurances and was successful in his surgery. We both feel that even if he didn't we still would have chose him for our surgeon.  We met with ALL the Boise doctor's doing RNY before making a choice and it was Dr. Korn hands down.  I had better not mention why we didn't chose any of the others.

Don't rule out Dr. Korn.  My wife has Medicaid and she is having her surgery done on the 29th.  I went to both Dr. Oakley and Dr. Korn before I had mine done also.

Topic: Just wanting to correspond with any patients of Dr. Oakley, that are in the Boise Area.

Hello my name is, Heather. I am hoping to have Roun-Y this summer sometime. I had chosen Dr. Oakley initially because I heard that he takes my current insurance. My PCP is a St Al’s doctor and wanted me to go to a St. Al’s Bariatric surgeon. I knew that would mean the Lap-Band (I have nothing against it) knowing myself better then the Dr. I knew that the Roun-Y would be best for me. Dr. Oakley is a big advocate of it.

I am anxiously waiting for my appointment to meet him next month. I am praying that I will get approved by Medicaid for the surgery. I would very much like to know how the Medicaid process has gone for anyone else. If it was hard to get approved? If they required a lot of information or testing? I have been on many diets in my life but none that have been Doctor supervised, has that been an issue for anyone? I want all my ducks in a row, so I do not slow the process.

Anyway… I am grateful to any person that would be willing to share their story with me. In regards to Dr. Oakley, insurance or personal. It will help me pass the time and help me better understand the process and make some new friends!

I hope to hear from you soon.

As I have mentioned before his office has the best staff especially, ALta (havent talked too much with anyone else) they have alway been kind and very helpful. I have been afraid of being treated unfairly because of Medicaid. I have been treated with kindness and understanding. No matter how mant times I have called (and it has been several times) I have never once been treated like I am a bother. KUDO"S to you guys!

I went to the doctor's office yesterday and weighed in on a balance scale (first time in years that I've been able to do that) and was happy to learn that I'm at 103 pounds gone.  I thought about it on the way home and remembered what life was like before surgery and it's amazing what that amount of weight will sap out of you.  Before, I'd sit at the computer for 16 hours and go to bed.  Now, I work in the yard, go to the gym, drive my wife's mini-car, and loving life again.

You need to find a surgeon.  They have staff that do nothing but deal with the insurance companies and they help walk you though the process.

Topic: RE: I have only seen my new Dr. twice before refer for WLS. Has anyone had that cause an issue?
Basically, all you need is a letter from your doctor that states that he/she (Doctor) has been supervising your weight loss efforts for X years and the results.   Hope this helps.

Congratulations and I might be there.  Christeen might have her RNY tomorrow so she might not feel like coming so we'll have to wait and see.
