Topic: PCP Letter
Hello! I am trying to get approved for the DS surgery. My PCP doctor is very supportive and is willing to write a letter of medical necessity for me. We both want to do it right the first time. Does anyone have a good template for my PCP to use? Thanks! Michelle

Topic: RE: Lap band
I am in the process of getting this procedure done. Dr. Robert Cahn will be the one doing my surgery. I have lots of information about the surgery, and anything and everything you want to know about it. Dr. Cahn will do the fills for me as needed. I choose the Lap band due to the fact that it can be removed at any time and you are not cutting and recreating the stomach. The less surgical intervention, the less chances of infection. Recovery time is greater, in the hospital for less than 48 hours, back to work in about 10 days. Start surfing the net looking under Lapband and you will be amazed at all the information about the procedure. I do highly recommend Dr. Cahn. He is young, enthusiastic, and ready to help. If you want to get together and go over my information I would love to share it with you and anyone else who is interest. Email me at [email protected]. I won't be checking my mail till Thursday.

Topic: How to find those pesky specialist
Hello one and all in the lovely state of Idaho, I was wondering if someone out there could help me with some ideas of how to locate a pyschiatrist and a specislist for hypertensive disorders. I am thinking that maybe I should get out the phone directory and some darts and just call whoever the dart lands on. Does not sound like the best idea, so if you could give me some input on this I would greatly aprreciate the help. I live in the panhandle in an around Ceour d' Alene and Post Falls. Again thanks for any input with this.

Topic: WLS in Mexico?
Has anyone from Idaho gone to Mexico for surgery? If so I would love to hear from you. I am seriously considering this as I am a self pay. I have heard great things from people across the US about Mexico, but.... It is so much cheaper there and the one doctor in particular has more expierence doing it than many here. My mother is a nurse and she would have a cow if she knew I was even considering surgery out of the country. But at this point, I'll go for it. I have tried everything else numerous times, (did anyone try the mushroom tea?) HELP!!!

Lisa - I read your profile and saw that you are seeing Dr. Cahn for the weight loss surgery. I'm not familiar with his experience doing these procedures, but you might as him how many surgies of this type that he has done. I am at the begining phase of this process also. I am going to Dr. Oakley, who has done approximately 180 WL surgies. Also, he does have a support group that meets once a month. Tonight in fact. You might check out his website too. www.thinidaho.com Also, my roommate had surgery by Dr. Oakley last year. She has already lost over 200 pounds. If you have any questions for me or my roommate, please feel free to email........Michelle

I had the procedure May 19, 2003. I was very scared and started trying to dought myself but since surgery I have realized it's not scary just hard. Don't ever let anyone try to convience you that it's an easy way out because it's not. Good luck to you!! You won't regret it.

No matter what, DON'T give up on the fight. It is so worth it even though it's a pain fighting with insurance. If you want it bad enough you can so it!
