Hi all,
ObesityHelp is ready to kick off the training of the OH Chapters across the country. We are going to be helping set up support groups all over the country, but we need your help to do so. We need you - that's right YOU! We need people like you who are willing to give some of their time to get trained and lead. We will help you every step of the way. We will show you how to get started and how to keep going. If you have a support group going already, we can help you too. Our training program starts on November 29, 2004. I would love to have you join us and be a part of a team of people who are making a difference in people's lives.

I have had an consult with Dr. Valentine and LOVED him! He was very thorough and informative. He requires that you understand everything fully and an excellent pre and post op support system. He has been doing Lap RNY for 3 years exclusively but has been doing Bariatric surgery for over 10 yrs. His sucess rate is excellent and he has had only 1 patient that had complications. He has not lost any patients. I found him extremely easy to talk to and he was more than willing to answer any questions I had. I am planning to have surgery in Feb.

Hello Dianna -
I would recommend Dr. Oakley very highly. He is very personable and understanding. Not to mention an extremely skilled surgeon. He has done hundreds of weight loss surgeries over the last couple years. You should go to his support group meeting. You could talk to others that have had the surgery. I had my surgery May 17th of this year and have not had any problems.

Hi Dianna, Happy to hear that your insurance will pay for gastric bypass. I had mine done August 6th of this year. I had Dr. Robert Korn. He is a very good doctor and took very good care of me. He only does open right now so if you wanted Lap I would contact Dr. Oakley. I hear he is also a very good doctor and people seem to like him.

I just found out that my secondary insurance will pay for gastric bypass so I need some recommendations for surgeons in the Boise/Nampa area. I know the names of three already, but I'd like to know who you had and why you like/disliked them please.

I went to DR. Valentine in Nampa. I had the RNY done and in 8 months lost 120 pounds. His office is great, they have support groups, a great nutritionist, and friendly caring staff. I get a monthly newsletter from them and they also have a clothing exchange right there behind the office. Sorry if it sounds like I'm rambling on but I was have had lots of major surgeries and no other dr or office staff were ever like this.

Topic: Did Local Lawmakers Help You?
Did you have to contact your local lawmakers in order for them to help you with an obesity related situation you were facing? Did you have problems getting a seat on an airplane or a restaurant to accomodate your needs? Did a lawmaker need to assist you with a fight against insurance? Did something happen in your life where you felt the only way to find a solution was to contact your local lawmakers? How willing were your local politicians when it came to helping your cause?
