I guess I am a bit nervous about talking with my doc today. In my heart I have decided that this surgery will be the best thing for my health. I haven't said anything to my husband. What am I afraid of? Anyway, today I meet with my regular doc and discuss my blood tests, check my vitals etc, and I am shaking inside. I don't need to be nervous....but I am. I'll write more later...gonna go take a soothing bath.

Hi Lori, it's normal to be nervous. When I saw my GP I started crying for goodness sakes. But then I started researching WLS and checking out Bariatric doctors and decided on Dr. Oakley (he was great by the way). Anyway, after doing extensive research and making my list of questions for Dr. Oakley, I was calm and more determined to get this surgery. He answered all my questions and they pretty much agreed with what I had previously discovered through my own research. Also this website answered many of my questions before and after surgery. Anyway, I found that the more I found out about the surgery, the more calm I became.

Thanks so much for the encouragement. I talked with Dr. Oakley and I feel more comfortable. Unfortunately he was out of network for my insurance so I had to change. Yesterday I visited with Dr. Valentine and I have to say, I am pretty comfortable at this point. I weighed in...ugh..but I have lost 20lbs in the last month or so, so that is a positive step. I will continue to try to lose more weight before my surgery. I have to meet with a nutritionist and have a psych eval before going in but that's ok. I will do this thing correctly. I am now more confident and ready to take this huge step in my life. After getting some test results back from my primary physician...I had a huge reallity check and it woke me up. My cholesterol is high and he did an IMT on the arteries in my neck...I'm 44 and already showing signs of hardening of the arteries. That was very scary. So asthetically, it will be nice to be thin, but I am doing this for my health. The thin part will be such a bonus. Talk to you soon, Lori

You won't be sorry after going to Dr Valentine. I have been very happy with all the services I have received. The nutrionist is also great. Very understanding. Keep me posted how things go for you. I could be your angel if you felt that you need one. Just think by the end of the year hopefully you will be on the losing side. Does your insurance cover this procedure or are you going to have to fight for coverage. Hopefully it will be easy. Feel free to email me anytime. [email protected]

Hi there, I am glad to hear you are very happy with Dr. Valentine. I was relieved after I met with him for the first time. He seems to be very real. Thanks so much for the encouragement. Fortunately my health insurance does pay for this type of surgery. I have had it approved for Dr. Oaley in Boise but he is out of network for me. So we are waiting for that approval to get cancelled and then Danielle can go forward with whatever she has to begin. There always seems to be a clincher or as my former co-workers would say...there's always something poking us in the neck. lol Thanks for being there.. You can also count on me for someone to talk to my email is [email protected].
