Deby, Star is about 5 miles west of Eagle. Eagle is just north of Meridian, which is just west of Boise. So, I'm about 25 miles north west of Boise. Do you know where that is? I know how nervous you must be right now. I sure was. The day of my surgery, I had this strange clamness about me. I knew this was the right thing to do, and I was ready to go!! Everything went as smooth as I could have hoped for. To this day, I've never vomited or been queasy, but... I followed my DR. orders to a T. Good luck, you'll do great.

Sally,
Star is a cute little town just a bit west of where I live. I'm in Nampa ID. I'd say your best bet is Dr. Kahn in Boise as he does mostly lap. But Dr. Christian Oakley is also in Boise and terrific ... he does all types. I'm hoping he can do mine someday. You'll have to let me know when you get to Star so we can get acquainted. I'm into scrapbooking and camping over the summer break. I work at Boise State University during the regular school months and love my summers off. Good luck on your move here.

Hi Sally and Angie,
We better meet up gals, this is destiny, don't you think so?? Hey Angie what part of Nampa will you be moving to, do you know? I live on the west side of town ... close to Edward's Theater and K-Mart etc. I'm giving you my "other" email address .... so please email me when you are 'Here" ok? It's [email protected]. Then I can give you my home phone. It's unlisted so I can't give it on here, but I will if you email me at scrappergal. OK?
by the way Sally, I spelled the doctors name wrong ... it's Dr. Cahn not Kahn. He is in Meridian so it's even closer for you. My knee surgeon recommended him, but I don't have high hopes of getting my surgery approved. I haven't given up hopes yet though.
Well, we are off to the mountains in the morning. I can hardly wait. I'll be up there until shortly before the 16 of June when I have my knee replaced. I'll chat with you all later.
Angie, I see you're from Sacramento? What part? My daughter lives in Sacramento on Coso Court. I would love to go visit her there. She's the one with 9 kids.

Hi Dianna!
You sent me a lovely email last year when I moved from Portland to Nampa, and I'm ashamed to admit that I never followed up on your invitation to meet up when I got settled! Now almost a year later I popped in to say hello and see whose about and here I find you!
I celebrated my three year WLS anniversary this week, my procedure was the biliopancreatic diverson (also known as the Scopinaro BPD), an old surgery that is rarely performed any longer (most surgeons are now doing the Duodenal Switch instead).
Anywho, seeing these exchanges reminds me of how much I'd really like to be in touch with some other WLS minded folks.. both pre and post op! I'm not shy about sharing my story and I was very active as an 'angel' and group speaker in Portland. We're also close as far as living arrangements.. I'm in the Crestwood development, just past Middleton off of Karcher!
I hope you have a lovely time camping, and I wish you the best with your knee replacement. I hope to hear from you when you get the time and inclination!
~Peace

I can hardly wait to welcome all you ladies to Idaho. Julie we are very close in distance truly. When I get back or after my knee surgery we'll have to get together.
Sally, on our way to the mountains we drive through Star and today I noticed the Celestial subdivision ... we're close too. Then with Angie moving to Nampa also we really must have a get together.
Julie, my doctor said he'd do a duodenal switch on me, if I ever get it approved. You say your procedure was similar to it? How do you feel you've done?
Well, tomorrow Monday is an appointment concerning my knee surgery .. have to learn the exercises etc for afterwards. Then on Tuesday I'm headed back up to the mountains and I'll stay by myself until late Friday night when my dh will join me for the weekend. Then I'll have to return and get my home ready to deal with a walker. My goodness, that'll be a full weeks work plus some. LOL
Wishing all you ladies well.
