Anyone get a hospital discount when self paying?

Hi all, I am now back after being absent from the boards since December, I live in Post Falls and am having surgery hopefully in July at Kootenai Medical Center . My new husband and I are taking out a home equity loan to pay for my surgery, has anyone had luck getting a discount at a hospital? I know they do so much charity work each year but I am not in the financial league of qualifying for assistance. I am in a wheelchair and will be the first disabled person my surgeon operates on for WLS so I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas. I am looking at $22,000 right now but would love to get that knocked down a few grand.

Hey Janice, welcome back! I know that St Lukes in Boise gives discounts to self pays, but not sure about your neck of the woods. Sure doesn't hurt to talk to the hospital's financial counselors! Good luck!! Stephanie
