Sorry but I need to vent! I just called my insurance company (again hee hee hee) to find the status of my pre-approval. I was informed that I now have to have a darn sleep study done before a decision can be made! What is the point of this? Does anyone know? How much more will this cost me and does the insurance cover any of the cost? How long to get an appointment and the results etc? Any info would be greatly appreicated! Thanks for listening to me vent guys! God Bless! Codie

Codie, I actually work for a bariatric surgeon, and I schedule sleep studies all the time. The purpose of this is to determine if you have sleep apnea or another obstructive sleeping disorder. This is typically one of the "big 3" that insurances determine to be medically necessary for their bariatric criteria. Insurance should cover the test, although you may be subject to your deductible. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the great information! I ended up having this done and found that I do have obstructive sleep apnea. Ended up going back a week later to have the study for the CPAP machine. I have never slept so good in my life as I did that night! I was a ball of energy all the next day. Now I am waiting anxiously to have the medical supply company bring me my OWN machine! LOL Thanks again! I appreciate the great info! Codie
