Has anyone from Idaho gone to Mexico for surgery? If so I would love to hear from you. I am seriously considering this as I am a self pay. I have heard great things from people across the US about Mexico, but.... It is so much cheaper there and the one doctor in particular has more expierence doing it than many here. My mother is a nurse and she would have a cow if she knew I was even considering surgery out of the country. But at this point, I'll go for it. I have tried everything else numerous times, (did anyone try the mushroom tea?) HELP!!!

Lynette, I had the Lap-Band surgery in Acuna Mexico on April 9,2003. Dr. Jose Rodriguez did it. He is awesome! I am heading back to Acuna tomorrow for a fill as I have been unable to find a Dr. around here willing to do it. I had the 11cc band. It isn't approved in the US. I would take my kids to this Dr. for surgery if needed! And, he only charged me $6,500. There was about $100 worth of meds I had to pay for but other than that, it included the whole surgery, hospital, pre-op testing...everything. Email me if you would like to talk more at [email protected]

I had an Open RNY with Dr. Aguirre in Ensenada Mexico on August 28th, 2003. My total surgery cost was $6900. I believe the cost will be going up to $8500 begining in 2004. Still at that it is fantastic deal. Going out of the country is hard. It is not for everyone. But for some it is the only realistic option. I would do it again without thinking twice my experience was what I made it. I am two and a half weeks post op and down nearly 40 pounds. Was it worth it .. YES.. was it easy NO..
