Hi all,
My husband and I are considering moving to North Boise area. We currently live in So. Calif. It is just too expensive to live here. Please give me your pros and cons on living in Idaho. Thanks so much for any info you can give me....especially on weather and how is the job market?

Have a great day!

I am from Central California A****er actually. I moved to Idaho 11 years ago however i am 6 hours N of Boise.  My Doctor is in Boise so I have been there a few times. You would Love idaho. Bosie for being the capital is real nice. Not too busy the highway is tollerable.  I really like it here.  Boise being south of us gets little snow and is normally cool I think there may be a week or two where we get 100 degree weather.  Now nursing and law enforcement jobs are hi demand.  Our prision in Orofino is usually hireing. I see Dr. Oakley in Boise at St. Lukes. They have a web site to check out. Where I am there is no gangs no graffiti yes we do have some drug problems but they get worked out. Hope this helped.  Lisa

Hi  I was born and raised in Souther CA.  Long Beach/Seal Beach area. Boise is very different.  North Boise is like 2nd Street area.  The homes are smaller and the garages even smaller.  North Boise is Democrat and the rest is very much to Republican.  However, we all managed to get along.  It's cold here!  It's hot here!  Not much in between weather.   We live in Meridian just outside Boise.  It's as if Seal Beach is to Long Beach.  You do not realize you are in another town until you see the sign.  Homes are so much cheaper here.  The houses that were going for $400 K 2 or 3 years ago can be had in a short sale for as little as $270 and these houses range from 2,500 square feet to 3, 000 and up.  Homes can be hugh in subdivisions.  If you want land there are nice homes with land available too.  Shoping is good in Boise, but if you shopped at Nordstroms...you'll have to go to Seattle or Portland to find a good one.  Boise has most of the other big name stores.   We moved here to be with the grandkids...and they had the nerve to move with their parents when their father got a work transfer!  If the housing market was better we would sale, but for now we are stuck in the desert.
Let me know if you have any more questions!  I'll be happy to help out.
