Ok well here is an update...I am home again in Washington....I couldn't get an appt. with one of the docs in Idaho...and my husband who is on the liver transplant list couldn't get a fast appt..with the VA...so we came home....now my wonderlust is over hopefully for good...   and yes my doc was sorely upset with me....I got home and was dangerously anemic...and ended up getting IV Iron therapy plus taking Iron at home....I am now back on track.... and doing much better even feeling better too...I want to thank everyone for the time they put into their comments....and say congrats to those who have taken the step and are beginning a new life....and to those on their way...big hugs...to an eventual new life style.....   Hugs Gaydria

Dr. Korn of Boise, Idaho takes both Medicaid and Medicare.  My husband used both insurances and was successful in his surgery. We both feel that even if he didn't we still would have chose him for our surgeon.  We met with ALL the Boise doctor's doing RNY before making a choice and it was Dr. Korn hands down.  I had better not mention why we didn't chose any of the others.

Will Medicaid really pay for RNY? I am on Medicaid and didn't realize this. IF this is true then I'm in good shape. Somebody let me know. What are their requirements?

I don't know much about Dr. Korn but I do know that Dr. Oakley in Boise accepts medicaid. He also practices in a Center of Excellence which medicaid prefers. He has done many surgeries and is one of a very few surgeons in the area that will do the DS. He doesn't have the greatest bed side manner and I had to fight him a little to give me the DS because it is not his prefered surgery (I'm guessing mainly because it is more difficult), however he must have figured out that I wasn't budging because I know that the DS is the best surgery for me so he finally agreed and I am scheduled for my surgery on January 5, 2009! Check you options, research your surgeons and PLEASE research your surgery options. Going into this blind is a great disservice to you. Good luck.

Don't worry. I've been researching it all for about 5 years now. I know what's going and what's going to happen. I wouldn't want to go in blind. Too scary.Anyway, thanks for the concern. I appreciate it. KNowing I'm not alone really helps too. If dr. Korn doesn't take medicaid then I will consider Dr oakley. I'm hoping korn takes it though because i really like him. Here's praying for both of us.

Hi, I am presently looking for a plastic surgeon in  Southern Idaho (preferrably Boise, Twin Falls area) that will accept medicaid. I need to have a pannis removed as it has become a health issue.
Does anyone know if there is someone who will accept medicaid. My doctor said that where it has become a health issue medicaid will cover plastic surgery.
