McCall anyone? DOCS IN BOISE???

Hi, Not sure my other post made it......pushed the wrong button me thinks. ANYWAY....I am new here....to Idaho anyway. Love it! Does anyone have any suggestions for DOCS in Boise?? I am wanting to have this surgery with all my heart and waiting for my hub's new insurance to kick in. (Saying prayers that I will be covered!!) I am looking for a surgeon in Boise.....does anyone have any suggestions??? Nice to meet you all..... THANKS, Judy

I've gone to Dr. Oakley in Boise. He doesn't do any lap-bands, he doesn't think they are a good procedure. His web site is www.thinidaho.com . Jenifer is his assistant and is great. He has a wonderful support group and we have one coming up Monday night, June 19th, at 7 pm. I urge you to come and see the other members. We have many that have just had it done all the way to several years out. I'm about 13 months out and down about 111 lbs. No complications. The meetings are held at St. Lukes in downtown Boise. Jenifer could probably give you the best directions on how to get there or she could give you the address and you could map it. I'm not sure how familiar you are with Boise but it's not hard to get there. Hope to see you there! Linda

I have my first meeting with Dr. Oakley on June 27th. His assistant Jennifer seems very sweet. If you need directions from McCall let me know. I was just in McCall two weekends ago It is so beautiful up there!

Judy, I had my RNY-lap surgery 2 1/2 yrs ago in Cal. When we moved up to Idaho, I wanted to find a WLS doc right away just in case. I looked for some time and finally decided on Dr. Valentine in Nampa. I was very impressed with Dr. Valentine after my appt. He wanted as much info as I could give him about my past and the surgery itself. He does do LAP. which I am very happy with. My 5 tiny scares are all but gone. I would recommend Dr. Korn. He dealt with both my mom and I. He is very nice and up front about everything. He will make sure that you are well taken care of. Dr. Oakley comes highly recommended in my book as well. He took me on while Dr. Korn was on vacation and I wasn't doing well. I'm sure you'll find the right one for you. Take care!
